I almost always pray the rosary along with the site ‘Come, Pray the Rosary’ and have noticed that the sign of the cross is not made at the conclusion of the Sorrowful Mysteries.
Is this because the final mystery is the crucifixion of Jesus, or is it an omission?

Thank you.

It is probably an unintended omission. While the Rosary is a private devotion and we can add or subtract or modify any prayer as we please, it is extremely unusual not to begin and end each one with a Sign of the Cross. It is also worth noting that the priest does not use the priest does not use the traditional approved formula for it in the beginning, either: all the words are “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” It has recently been explained that these seemingly unimportant words are an important expression of Trinitarian theology, so it is increasingly annoying to me when someone omits them.

Thank you for your response! I will carry on making the sign of the cross before and after praying the rosary.
