I loved your reply BlestOne. I may plagiarize it some time in the future because your arguments are so unambiguous. Way to go!
If you liked that one… you should see the one I submitted to
Change.gov and the Washington post:
Topic: Abortion
You should support telling women the truth… that the time to decide if they don’t want a baby is before they have sex not after they have a positive pregnancy test. Before they even get a positive test, that child is a human being with his/her own unique DNA and abortion is murder of our most precious and vulnerable citizens.
Forget about the FOCA… There are too many problems with forcing people to pay for something they are so morally opposed to and feel supporting will jeopardize their immortal souls. I can tell you what will happen if their tax dollars are used to fund abortions… The people will rally every Catholic, Evangelical, Protestant group they can to morally object to paying taxes on the basis that they firmly believe that this is infringing on their Christian beliefs and endangering their salvation. I am willing to bet that there will be alot of joiners just to get out of paying taxes… kind of like getting people to vote for a candidate by vowing to offer a stimulus rebate… both sides can appeal to greed.
What’s even more important than that is that many of these faiths have written doctrine that would make them accountable if they did nothing to stop their money from being used for the slaughter of innocents. Since the majority of people in this country have already voiced their opinion on abortion being wrong and it has fallen on the deaf ears of our politicians, they are justified to take more extreme measures to ensure that their salvation is not in jeopardy.
I submit to you that this is a definite possibility… and will be supported by many.
You may think this is a joke, but I assure you it is not. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how this one issue is splitting our great nation apart. This crosses every line of decency when a government can advocate killing its future citizens in the name of convenience.
Many are concerned with the economic condition of our country and rightfully fear for our social security. Do you know how many more workers we would have in this country if abortion was illegal? We certainly wouldn’t have the crisis we find ourselves in now, with fewer and fewer paying taxes to support more and more of our older population that is living longer than ever.
By not only keeping abortion legal, but proposing that the government fund it, you are sending a message to the multitudes that you don’t care about their social security, that you don’t care about the popular opinion, and mostly that you don’t care about the religious convictions of your citizens. I am pretty certain that this kind of action is exactly what the founding fathers meant by the first amendment.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
What FOCA would do is prohibit the free exercise of all Christian religions by telling them that their tax dollars have to go to funding that which is totally against their religion. They have petitioned the government for years, and have been ignored; their grievances have not been redressed.
The ball is in your court gentlemen. You have some choices to make. Just ask yourselves, would your lives be better without your children? So then why is it permissible to allow the murder of other people’s children?

I am totally on a rampage… after Durbin sent me that awful email! I even contacted Archbishop Chaput in Denver and asked about whether not paying taxes that we know will go to support paying for abortion was justified… He answered really nicely that perhaps I was being premature and should wait and see what happens… but that it was an “interesting” thought…
