What are signs of lukewarmness? It is clear from Revelation 3:16 that God really dislikes lukewarmness.

I would say it is being indifferent even though they were Christians. They were just hypocritical and unchanged.

As one who was lukewarm for a while…
Just going through the motions, without those actions affecting your life much, if at all. Giving lip service to your faith. Going with the flow rather than actively defending or participating.

It’s the hospital I don’t care who gets in but how you stay in it.

St Josemaria offered these points about lukewarmness, in The Way.
“You are tepid if you carry out listlessly and reluctantly those things that have to do with our Lord; if deliberately or ‘shrewdly’ you look for some way of lessening your duties; if you think only of yourself and of your comfort; if your conversation is idle and vain; if you act from human motives.”

In this case, it may be healthier to meet God elsewhere.
I made that step way back, sticking to God and ditching Church (though I’m back now). The further you press the square peg into the round hole the worse the consequences will be

Is accepting gay marriage, abortion, etc. as ok, considered being lukewarm? (if one is Catholic of course)

My opinion is that this isn’t so much being lukewarm as it is motivated following the Church’s teaching. I think I’m making a distinction between being lukewarm, and being a “Catholic in name only”.

Yes. That is the distinction I just made. Lukewarm Catholics are, let’s call them, lackadaisical. CINO call themselves Catholic, but don’t follow the teachings.

I think one manifestation of lukewarmness is a shrinking circle of concern, lowering our concern about the salvation others.

“I still have my salvation, you get yours”.

This is a horrendous error.

You know, when I see people (especially teenagers) in the communion line at mass dressed in the garb of their lifestyle and with a vacant, almost bored look on their face (the official look of a teenager!), I think of the word lukewarm. Then I wonder if inside, they are far more intense in their faith than I.
Pope Francis wrote a really good opinion on a creeping Gnosticism in today’s Catholics. Those believing they have a special knowledge (gnostic) that makes them superior, more learned, more devout.
To wonder … okay. To judge … never!

Whatever your sins and weaknesses are -
I’m sure - your qualities - are with others.

I’m afianced into cultural Catholicism.
Given that I’m from a more … mellow church tradition, I’ll say the point is getting them back.
