Signs of Being called to Overseas Mission

• A sense of humor which rejoices in life, carries us through hard times, and helps us laugh at our mistakes.

I would be willing to go wherever God calls me to go, but I feel that it is better for me to stay closer to my family. That is one of the reasons why I would rather be a diocesan priest. I have received literature from: the Legion of Christ, Maryknoll Catholic Missions, Divine Word Missions, and Glenmary Missions and they are all great.

I (hope) I have all of these…though still working on the elusive humility. Im still discerning what my vocation is, though I’m more and more certain that I will be a sister.

However, one thing I KNOW and am SURE of is that I am built with a missionary heart.

Advice…comments…suggestions?

I feel that way too. I haven’t been on too many missionary experiences, but my heart longs for it. So many of my friends are loving their jobs and feel like they have fulfilled their dreams. I have a steady job and I’m relatively good at it, but I long for something more. I want to help those who have no one to speak for them. I want to better the poorest of the poor and build a world where all can see God’s love through the service of His children.

Have you looked into the Missionaries of Charity? They have both a contemplative and active branch. They serve in almost every country all over the world. You don’t choose where you go or what you do. You are just sent to where God needs you. I love it! (A little scary though!)
