Signs that signal the end times?

Hey Folks,

I find that the Church is very slow or reluctant to tread into the end time discussions. It is true that we do not know the exact time but Jesus did say you will know the season. Remember the fig tree.

Here a few things that point to that we are in the season:

-47 million abortions a year. Jesus has warned us that this is one of the main reasons for his return.
  • The amount of Marian apparitions in the last century are more than the last 19 centuries put together. She has come back to warn us and prepare us and our hearts for the return of her son.
-The bloodiest century ever, has just passed.
-Go to: directionforourtimes.com/volumes.html, read the Green volume in particular related to what is being discussed here.
There is so much out there and it all points to the season.

Aaron

The generation that sees the fig tree ripen will be the generation that see all things come to pass. It is well known that the fig tree describes Israel. It was initially thought that it meant the 1948 event of Israel becoming a nation. It was Pope Pius XII who said it meant when Israel got Jerusalem back. We should conduct ourselves on the highest plane possible. If isn’t the last days we should have acted on the highest level anyway, so what have we lost!

**The Church’s ultimate trial
** (from the cathechism):

675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.574 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth575 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.576

676 The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,577 especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism.578

677 The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.579 The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven.580 God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgment after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.

Since Anti-Christ according to 1Jn 2:18-22 is defined as someone that denies that Jesus is the son of the Father, we know that the secular world influenced by atheism (which denies Father, Son and Holy Spirit) we have to watch out for not being trapped in his snares. Since Satan can make us believe that he is of Light, it is not impossible that Anti-Christ will do the same. Some parts of the world seems very good …, but the truth is distorted. Evil is presented as good (abortion, euthanasia, same-sex marriage etc).

I think we all have to live in the here and now and trust in God. Antichrist has been her from the beginning (1Jn 2:18-22), but he is now bound and will not be released to the fullest for a little while before the second coming of Christ . The best we can do is to try to not loose faith in good days and in bad. We must not waste our lives in fear for the last days because we will be in the hands of God, even if persecuted. But it can still be some 100 years before Anti-Christ is released to the fullest. I repeat: I think we all have to live in the here and now and trust in God.

People have predicted the immediate arrival of the “end times” since Christianity started. If you strive to always be in God’s graces it does not matter when it will occur or if it ever occurs.

Do you think you who try to read the signs are any different than all the people that have tried it before. They all thought it would happen during their lifetimes.

It didn’t.

It is a total waste of time and focus, which would be better spent examining our own lives and how we are doing in our relationship with God. To me that is just about a full time job.

I have just read this in a Messianc (Jewish Christians) that the Euphrates has dried up. This is the fulfillment of a stunning prophecy. The very large army marches across Iraq which would be impossible if the Euphrates wasn’t dried up. We might want to consider that we must remain strong for those fellow believers who weaken. We must, if we are ever going to, walk by faith and not by sight.

Yes, exactly! As long as we want to stay close to God :crossrc: :bible1: , God will always give us the grace we need to walk in his paths no matter what happens!

In the company of God there is nothing to be afraid of!!! 👍

.

Does revelation or anywhere in the bible say that we will experience a time or period of relative peace and stability before the arrival of the anti-christ and ensuing turmoil?

Or does it say things will get bad and then better for a while and then really really bad?

Or does it say it will just get further and further downhill until the end?
Chaz, has the thread given you the answers you were hoping for to you three main questions?

Or was it these questions you were most concerned about?
.What if nuclear holocaust wipes most of us out in the next World War or even next year by accident? In 1995 we came 3 minutes away from accidental nuclear war as Russia was sitting in front of the button ready to push literally. You think it’d automatically bring Jesus back even if there was no clear anti-christ involved?
I think that God decides when he want to return. We have had nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The consequences were big, but the world still is here.

The best thing to do is to try to live close to God and use the sacraments that God has given us through his Church and fight against Satan’s strategies. :knight1:

To waste time in speculation about the end times is not the best thing you can do. Charity toward others in the here and now is much better for the Bible tells us: Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus: ‘Teacher,’ he said, ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ 26He said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What do you read there?’ 27He answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.’ 28And he said to him, ‘You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.’ (Luke 10:25-28).

One sign that the end is near is the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple, the Apostasy and the conversion of the Jews.

I know this is a dumb question but where is the book of revalations, is it in the Bible, where?
The book of Revelation is the last book of the Bible. It was arrange to be the last because of the content that telling about the end times and the coming of the anti-Christ. Open your Bible…

Signs that signal the end times?Hmm- Miley Cyrus,Quentin Tarantino movies, the Chunnel and the “reggie” bar.🙂

I agree with all previous posters who recognise that we can not know when times on earth will come to and end. We must live in the faith of God each and every day.

I would, however, like to point readers to the messages given by Our Holy Mother to the four visionaries of Garabandal in the 1960’s. Messages which are remarkably similar to the messages given at Fatima in the early 1900’s. For those of you who do not know about Garabandal - go to www.garabandal.org or do some of your own research. There is quite remarkable actual video footage of the young girls taken whilst they are in their ecstacies! It utterly blew me away the first time I saw it 8 years ago. Whilst Garabandal has not yet officially been authenticated by the Church, the Pope did personally meet with the visionaries, and arguably the greatest modern day saint of our times, Padre Pio, explicitly said that all that was happening at Garabandal was real. The Church has also confirmed that none of the messages of Garabandal in any way conflict with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

For example, one of the messages given at Garabandal to the visionaries, which at the time caused unhappiness and scepticism amongst many Church clerics and bishops, was that many cardinals, bishops and priests would be leading souls to perdition! Have we not just had to endure the dreadful sadness of the exposing of many of our priests for their involvement in paedophilic activities and / or abuse! All of a sudden a lot of people are remembering the Garabandal messages and warnings - they are coming to fruition before our eyes today!

Garabandal also specifically predicted that communism (one of the greatest evils to have been inflicted on the Catholic Church) would be defeated…

We don’t know if we are living in end times or not, but it seems we are very definitely living in a time where very soon a great warning from God (that will be seen and felt by each person on earth such that EVERY person on earth will know it is from God (see the Garabandal website)) will occur, followed within a year a by a great miracle / sign which will be left at Garabandal for the entire world to see for the remainder of eternity. One of the visionaries, Conchita, knows the date when the miracle will occur and will tell the world 8 days in advance, but remember that the great warning will come before the miracle… Conchita is now 60 years old… We can not be too far away…

For the sceptics amongst you, at least inform yourselves a little about Garabandal before condemning it. I was incredibly privileged to do a pilgrimage of various European holy sites in 2001, such as Lourdes, Fatima and Garabandal itself. What I experienced at Garabandal changed my life forever! I was blessed in that God opened my eyes in a way that I could never express in human terms. Garabandal and all that has been revealed there IS very real. If you don’t take my word for it, then at least don’t ignore what Padre Pio has said about it… There are sadly plenty of hoaxters and glory-seekers out there claiming all kinds of visions, locutions, and preaching messages predicting the future the way they have figured it. Garabandal is not one of them. It is VERY REAL.

Once again, we can not know when the end times will be, but the evils of the world are such that God is not far from shaking us all out of our apathetic slumber…

In the mean time, we need more prayer (especially for priests), we need to make more sacrifices and do penance and we need to fill our hands with good deeds…

God bless
Patrick

Thank you Patrick.

I didn’t know about this apparition. It is very much like Fatima…you are right. I feel we need to pray and visit the blessed sacrament more.

Hi Hyacinth II

You are absolutely right about visiting the blessed sacrament more! This was also conveyed explicitly to the visionaries at Garabandal. There desperately needs to be greater reverence for the Holy Eucharist - we need to pray urgently that people have their eyes opened as to the extraordinary gift of the Holy Eucharist. I so often feel sad that our human limitations cause us to fail to recognise just what a gift this is!

But let me not digress from the topic of this thread… 😉

The End Times signs are mostly in Christ’s Eschatalogical Homily in the gospels.

I have been talking about the End Times signs in the Can Someone Refute This? thread in Apologetics.

Example: 15 "When you see the desolating abomination spoken of through Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
16 then those in Judea must flee to the mountains, … Matthew 24:15-16.

I believe that the “desolating abomination…standing in the holy place” – translated “abominable destructive thing…on holy ground” in the 1970 NAB – is Israel’s nuclear weapons program. Interestingly, in line with Jesus’ reference to “Judea,” the missiles were first deployed in the late 1960s in the mountains west of Jerusalem, in what was “Judea” in Christ’s time.
This is a great example of the Parlour Game of End Times symbols. Your interpretation makes perfect sense to you, in this time and place. But it was equally valid for people who witnessed the descration of the Temple under Antiochus to see that as the fulfillment of the Daniel prophecy (in fact, probably a closer match). And of course the Jews of Jesus time considered the erecting of the Roman standard (with its image of the Emperor) in the Temple as a descration. Etc.
One sign that the end is near is the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple, the Apostasy and the conversion of the Jews.
Another example - the belief that the Temple must be reconstructed in order for the desolating sacrifice to be offered. (which in turn creates a “prophecy” that the Dome of the Mosque will be destroyed, since the Jerusalem Temple would be rebuilt on that site.) But others have suggested that the desolating sacrifice might take place at St. Peter’s in Rome. And others point out that as the Perfect Sacrifice is now offered around the world, the desolating sacrifice might be anywhere - or everywhere.

Similarly people have believed that the Great Apostasy was the Protestant schism. See? Anyone can play . . .

Just want to say thank you to Patrick for sharing a little bit about Garabandal

I know this is a dumb question but where is the book of revalations, is it in the Bible, where?
the last book in the bible is apocalypse or also called revelation, depending on the bible that you have. Just look to the very back of the bible. However, there really is more about the second coming of Christ in the gospels and epistles than in revelation.(apocalypse)

I agree that we have to live in the moment and not worry about tomorrow, but the thought that the great tribulation might be near and the return of the Lord shortly after does light a fire under me!

Here are some words from Jesus talking to Anne the lay apostle in 2004:

Children, with
all of the wisdom of heaven, you can now
see the level of darkness that settled in
ever growing layers upon the world.
Prophets from even one hundred years
ago could never have imagined such evil.
They could not fathom the depravity that
would be accepted by men of the future.

God the Father
I give greetings to My children on this
earth. It is I, your Father in heaven, who
speaks to you. My children, you are par-
ticipating in a time of change. The saints
in heaven only wished they could have
lived in this time. It is similar to the time
when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. You
might say the world is with child again
because the world is awaiting the return
of the Savior.

…You live in a
time when your God is returning. How
often have My holy children wailed in
despair and said, “God, why do you allow
this evil to continue?” Well, My servants, I
allow it no longer.

Jesus the King
My brothers and sisters of the world must
prepare their hearts to welcome their
King. In past times when groups of
humanity were ruled by Kings, all would
prepare for the return of their ruler fol-
lowing his absence. Well, I have been
away from your world in the physical
sense for many years. Now I prepare to
return. I am ready. Your world is not.
What must you do to be ready? My broth-
ers and sisters in the world must prepare
their hearts. How do you want Me to find
you when I come back? Would you be so
immersed in the world that My return
will be an unpleasant and shocking inter-
ruption to your worship of the false gods
of materialism and sensuality? That will
not be good for you, dear soul, because
you will not understand or fully experi-
ence the joy that is rightfully yours. You
must prepare to claim that joy. You must
set an example of peaceful and watchful
readiness. When I find you, you will want
to welcome Me in all recollected holiness.

… But
it is My wish that we focus on the future,
looking ahead to the Age of Obedience,
which I am returning to announce.

Jesus the King
My brothers and sisters, think of Me as
your dearest friend, who has been away
on a journey, but who now returns. What
preparation will you make for this
friend? Will there not be a celebration
when this friend returns? Remember that
this friend has always loved you and
looked out for your interests. This friend
has, in fact, proved His loyalty to you by
offering His life so that you could live. In
short, everything this friend has, He has
given to you. Now consider what prepara-
tions are appropriate. I feel that there is
no preparation too good to welcome Me
back to your world. I return, brothers and
sisters. I am coming. Many of you will wit-
ness My return. Will you be ready to greet
Me? I want this to be a joyous time for you
and that is only possible with your coop-
eration. Prepare the Way of the Lord.
Open your heart. Help Me to open the
hearts of those around you.

You can get all these words from :www.directionforourtimes.com

It is soon, not before the Tribulation, so get ready folks.

Yours in Christ
Aaron

Amen!
I too, have been blessed with this kind of visitation, and it has put my restless soul at peace, knowing that, so long as I remain constant in Jesus, nothing will harm me. My body, my life, my possessions, even my family and friends, and country, have been given to me to USE to get closer to my Source, my God. They can be removed in an instant, at His Pleasure, for HIS reasons, because He is working WITH MY SOUL, to bring it back to Himself. I can withstand any trial, because HE is the Reward at the end of it.
Why should I fear?
Like St. Peter said, “Lord, to Whom would we go? YOU have the words of eternal life.”
Fill your granaries in heaven, for this world is only a temporary place.
Good job, Marjanna, you have it 100% right, !
The only ‘end times’ we should be worried about is our own.
And you can be quite certain it is coming, in YOUR own lifetime ! 🙂
When ? Like Jesus said, you know not the day or the hour.
All the rest is up to you.
So we may be approaching the big end, but the best advice is to not worry, rather hold these things in your heart, and pray for your own conversion to Christ. We do not know when we will each be called.
So don’t put it off.
“Pray, Pray, Pray ! Until prayer becomes a joy for you”.

Bob

I know how you feel Patrick. I too went on pilgrammage to a different apparition site, which is also not yet approved by the Church, and my life has not been the same since.
I will fully accept whatever the Church’s official ruling will be when she makes her decision, but I do know that for me all is different now.

God uses all things for His glory, and no doubt has not stopped sending us special events to help us know Him. (Hey, just consider the Mass ! 🙂 )

One thing I learned there is that when we truly hand it all over to Him and open our hearts, He has the will and the ability to come to us personally in some pretty amazing ways.

Thanks in no small part to the prayers of His Mother, He met me right where I was, with His immense Grace.
And believe me, He came WAY past half-way to do it.

Bob
