I have been to the confessional this evening. After confession and some questions were asked, there was a moment of silence. The priest said “leave in peace” after I made an act of contrition as requested. I wonder, am I absolve from my sins?

I didn’t receive Holy Communion as I don’t want to commit the act of sacrilege.

Maybe you just didn’t hear the priest saying the words of absolution. Quite often they say the words while you are making the act of contrition. Its hard to speak and listen at the same time.

I assist at an FSSP Chapel and when I go to confession Father always absolves me as I am saying my Act of Contrition. He says the absolution in a low voice and in Latin, so it’s hard to hear him at all. This may be a similiar situation to the original poster, as you have pointed out.
