My brother a former Catholic pointed out the strong similarities between Anorexics and Trans folks.

He has a strong point.

Here we have objective evidence of a stark discordance between what someone is physically and what they “feel” they are.

In the one case (anorexics) we try to rectify the person’s belief in accord with the objective reality…we pray for them, we treat them, we try to approach them with reason, etc.

And in the other case we write laws preventing others from helping them.

It’s really odd.

I really can’t think of any substantial differences between the two.

Well, I know this is not anorexia, but while I was taking my generals in nursing school, I learned about a disorder in which people believed they were supposed to be born blind or unable to walk so they went to all lengths to make themselves blind or to make themselves unable to walk ( It’s called Body Integrity Identity Disorder).Because of the transgender cause being approved, these people can now legally blind themselves or have a leg or an am amputated. They just have to go to a therapist for about a year and to “live” with the disability for that time( So they’ll wear special eye equipment to keep them from seeing to ensure they can live life in this chosen way. If after that time they decide they want to go through with it, they can legally blind themselves or have themselves physically disabled. Their argument is just like the transgender one, they have always felt like this is how they were supposed to have been born.

Exactly, and the main issue is that we literally can say no to anything at this point. As soon as we approved sex change based on the fact that it makes them happy or that this is how they’ve always felt, we opened a can of worms that can’t really be shut. I mean, what’s the difference between saying “ I’ve always felt like a boy/girl” and “ I’ve always felt like an elf” or “ I’ve always felt blind”. We allow one and they all become acceptable.

Exactly, it’s the same for BIID. Many deal with depression afterwards, regardless of how much they claim to not regret their decision. The main issue, I believe, is when people stopped treating these as disorders that can be delt with on a psychological/spiritual/medical fashion. In a culture in which everything is accepted and everything is condoned in the name of equality and happiness based on the demands of a malfunction in the human brain, we’re always going to have pain and suffering. I have a mental disorder too, and the brain is a strange powerful thing. It can’t be listened to lightly when it’s not doing what it aught.

The devil is really attacking people in regards to their physical body these days.

The suicide rate for people who try to change their gender is 40%’; and what’s odd is it’s 40% w/ or w/out the operation.

It’s higher than the suicide rate of Jews in prison camps.

It kills too.

Trans and gay aren’t the same thing as we’ve been inculcated to believe.

That connection seems like a stretch to me. I would not think much of it. I’d say they are not that similar.

Anorexia and transgender disorder share only superficial similarities. Equating the two is irresponsible.

The two are not equivalent. Anorexia is a disease that keeps people from eating and puts them at risk of death from starvation.
Gender dysphoria is the delusion of being the opposite gender.
A man who thinks he’s a woman is still not actually a woman. Helping him means curing him of the delusion, not getting him surgery to make him look like a woman.

When you say that Anorexia is a disease…you take it as truth.

Show me the disorder in the organs…you can’t

It’s a belief that runs against the objective physical reality, a compulsion that refuses to face reality.

No different from trans. Not at all.
