Sin affect Sacramentals?

If I commit a mortal sin while wearing some sacramental garment, like a scapular or a cincture, does it get defiled, or something? Do I need to have it re-blessed?

the sacramentals are not affected, your soul is affected. Go to confession, and heal every area of your life, not just what you wear.

easiest thing in the world, call the parish office tomorrow morning and make an appointment with the priest, or go to a church or shrine that has daily confessions.
what would you do if you had a severe toothache all weekend, or chest pains? certainly not makes excuses you would take care of a potentially dangerous situation as soon as possible.

oh I know I can easily (and will) go to confession, but it’s the “heal every area of your life” part that isn’t so easy! Especially as I have some vices. I’ll have to find a good spiritual director - been meaning to do that since I was confirmed and just keep procrastinating. It’s literally a *vicious *cycle.

that is one of the purposes and fruits of confession

I can really relate. I carried around guilt from an abortion for 10 years. I went to confession after confession and never felt forgiven, but I learned the problem was not with God but with me.

Don’t insult God by thinking your sin is too big for His mercy. He can heal every area of your life, you just have to forgive yourself and accept his mercy.
