YES!!! It’s reconcilable with Catholic teaching on sin and repentance.

Have you ever heard the words the priest uses while washing his hands after the blessing of the gifts? Some priests say it out loud, which was the normative way to do it 30 years ago.

“Lord, wash away my iniquities and cleanse me of my sin”. This is what happens when:
a) we are baptized, and
b) we are forgiven in Confession.

You’ll also see the Church Doctrine on Purgatory in this very next scene of 1 Kings when God forgives David completely, but still punishes he and Bathsheba by taking the life of their child.
