Sin of Scandal

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I think this is the best Forum Segment to post in. I wanted to know whether or not you believed I committed a Mortal Sin. I was at work today and a coworker asked me to take her to CVS because she doesn’t have a car and needed Medicine. I said sure but as we were almost to my truck in the parking lot, she thanked me for agreeing to take her and said she “really needs this birth control.” I know birth control and contraception are sinful and I told her she should abstain from sex. But I still took her to the store. As soon as we got there, I thought about how I was enabling her to Sin by taking her to buy it. At least I tried advising her against getting it, but that wasn’t good enough, I shouldn’t have taken her and I’ve felt really bad ever since then. I intend to Confess this but I wanted to have opinions on whether this is a Mortal Sin or not and exactly what is Scandal/Omission? Thank you to all who will respond.
 
Welcome to the forum.
Instead of seeking opinions here, why not discuss this with your priest?
When you are not sure about the nature of a sin, the best way is to bring it up in the Confessional and listen to what the priest - the personna Christi has to say.

You had a great opportunity with a captive audience to mentor. It sounds like you tried.

Try following up with her the next chance you get.

Will pray for you friend, and when on these forums, try not to ask certain incidents, or if something was a mortal sin, which is better for a priest to deal with. I used to do this, and I realized that it won’t help.

I would just tell a priest what you told us.

You agreed to take her before you knew what she was getting. Also, what she was after indicates that she’s doing things wrong, but doesn’t cause or prove it.

It would have done more harm to the Christian cause and your position to just refuse to take her, so I think you did the best you could.

It is so edifying that you want to be pleasing to God by avoiding sin and forming a sensitive conscience. You’re a saint in the making! Speak with your priest, he is the best person to help you understand whether the situation is a venial sin, mortal sin or no sin at all. Objectively, it is a grave sin to knowingly help someone obtain contraception, but that piece is only 1 part of the story, and not enough to determine if you have committed mortal sin or not, the priest can help you sort out the rest. If you just tell him what you’ve told us, he’ll know what questions to ask. Also, a holy sorrow for sins is the sign of a heart that loves Jesus, but “feeling bad” isn’t necessarily the same thing. Remember- it’s a great grace to have a delicate conscience and to want to please God, so instead of feeling bad, consider how loving God is for giving you the desire to be holy. God bless!
 
Was she Catholic? If not, what you say will go in one ear and out the other. She elected to get birth control. You did not know what you were getting yourself into.
 
There is a possibility that she needed the birth control pill for a legitimate medical reason which would not be uncommon. Next time inquire. You did not knowingly sin. Peace.
 
Your scrupulousity is not much, its never a supposition of incorrectness.
