Sin or not

I am young and will soon go to an Ob-gyn for the first time. For the pelvic exam I tried looking online for an animation of it but there wasn’t any but noticed there were a lot of live ones with real people. Would watching it be a sin of impurity or some kind. It really doesn’t matter if I watch it or not but I would like to know.

First of all thankyou for educating yourself and looking after your health in this way. Sadly, too many young (and some older) people seem to think they are invincible or something and so don’t make the effort.

Now for your question. Your purpose is to educate yourself, and you’ve tried to do so by other means. Which probably aren’t as useful. It would be fine, and perhaps even a good idea, to watch a video.

It is no worse than a pregnant woman watching a video of a birth (which also tends to show detail of a woman’s private parts) to prepare herself for what is going to happen to her body.

As I said, the purpose is a good and necessary one, so it is fine.

We used to have to watch that in Biology class in my Catholic high school. My teacher referred to it as the most successful form of birth control for teenagers.

The only way it would be sinful is if it was a) out of morbid curiosity or b) you got some sort of an arousal out of it (I know it sounds odd, but there are people who have sexual fetishes out there. Some of whom I’ve had to dealt with.)

do you really think doctors sin every time they examine a patient?
you don’t need to watch one to prepare for it, unless you are a medical student. God created all parts of the body, and those parts that enable humans to cooperate with him in his plan of creation are the most sacred. Unless someone views the natural workings of the body with an intention to sin, there is no sin involved. How is the question related to traditional Catholicism?
