What if someone were to profane the Eucharist when they were young (about 9), forget about it as they got older, and then start going to regular confession again, and then remember this serious sin that they did???

If you forgot about it and are now truly repentant, then your sin is forgiven. You can mention it at your next confession if you wish but you don’t need to.

That’s the whole beauty of the sacrament. It doesn’t matter what the sin or when, just bring it up with your confessor and he will discuss it with you during confession. He may offer some great pastoral advice or maybe just let you know that a particular sin, especially as a child is one that was completely innocent and just that, childlike.
Either way more than likely, once you’ve confessed, sins are absolved and you simply move on and turn to Christ and acknowledge him in all your ways.

Most 9 year olds wouldn’t really be likely to form the intention necessary to commit a mortal sin. If this is going to continue to arise and disturb you now that you’ve recalled it, tell the priest next time you go to confession.
