So can one Pope contradict another Pope’s teaching and say that this Pope is wrong and this is how it should be?
From the bit I have read/heard, no Pope can individually contradict what another Pope has said, or ruled. If a contradiction in Church teaching would occur, I would imagine it would take a council of the Magesterium to declare on it, not just a disagreement by the Pope alone.

Witchcraft isn’t portrayed as being used for good purposes in Narnia or Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter is somewhat unique in that.
What about the elves and gandalf in LOTR? The magic potion that the youngest had in Narnia?

These were not good?

I think you have to look past the magic and see what message the author is trying to convey.

I have been a huge rock and roll fan for many years. I can play electric guitar quite well and it is one of my great loves in life. I am very religious, but until recently never saw anything wrong with listening to rock and being a good Catholic. I recently read something Cardinal Ratzinger wrote about rock and roll before he became pope. I disagree with it on many levels, because I believe there is a lot of good rock music. Im terrified now, however, because I feel like if i listen to a little Van Halen, I’ve somehow committed an act of schism. I don’t think I agree with the Pope, but I want to know; is it a sin to disagree with him on this matter?
Popes often say things with which I don’t agree. The last two spoke out against the WOT, for example – a war which I definitely support. Rock and roll is art, and God gives us the capacity to create it, such that we ourselves can partake in the glorious act of creation. As long as your music doesn’t promote hatred, or inspire you to do bad things, or somehow transcend the personal expression of the artist, such that it represents something truly evil, I say it’s a blessing. Cardinal Ratzinger is an old-timer from a foreign culture. He couldn’t possibly have any appreciation for rock and roll, and really has no business attacking it. He has bigger fish to fry, IMO.
