Sin to support popular charity?

Is it a sin to support popular annual charity event which get support from questionable agencies and organizations (promoting liberal anti-religion values etc) ? At the same time there is proof that it gives a lot of help to needy children…
 
If you’re children in your home were starving and dying because they had no food to eat, and a man came to your door and offered you two loaves of bread and a bottle of milk, would you question him on how he came to get them or thank God that he sent someone to you with the food and milk?

Right I agree. So there is no sin to take help from devil ? Is it correct to say it this way ?🙂
 
Well I think the person who gets the money in the wrong way has sinned. So there is sin there. But I think that the person who accepts the money in good faith, does not sin.

The handout at my local church suggests that we give to Catholic Charaties only. There are plenty of them, all underfunded. In my case, my Spiritual Director said it was OK to donate to Alcoholics Anonymous instead, as I am a recovered alcoholic with 27 years sobriety
 
Unless your starving/unclothed and homeless, you need to keep quiet.

It’s quite easy to preach about sin from behind a computer screen. You don’t need to support anything you don’t want too, but remember that some people aren’t doing very well.

It depends on how the money is used. In some organizations one can designate that the funds go to one cause or another. The Red Cross for example is one such organization.

I would be on the fence for UNICEF for example if I suspected that any funds from UNICEF went to other purposes. UNICEF might be on my suspect list. Since there are Catholic oganizations that feed, educate and clothe children I would have to pass on UNICEF and place my funds with the Catholic organization.

You have options.

Is it a sin? Probably not unless they promote abortion.
 
I have for many years given to the Make A Wish Foundation, anybody know of any bad things that they fund?

I mean charity in Poland, big annual event supported by TV stations in country. But the problem is it promotes some ideas among young people like ‘do what you want’ etc If you know what I mean. So my money goes to needy, sick children for sure, but don’t know if that extremely successful charity motive is not really about spreading liberal values and raising secular youth. Some people say it is devil trap …

March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen, and several others are very evil, but they portray themselves to be good.

So, I was right about UNICEF. I also heard that United Way misdirects funds. This is a good link to have. Thank you.

This really falls under the principles related to cooperation with evil, whether that be remote or proximate, etc. This depends upon the specifics of this situation and what moral alternatives are available.

If there is an alternative organization that helps children while **not **promoting/supporting immoral causes, then that is you best choice for giving money.

They don’t. Members buy the coffee, put in a few dollars here and there if they can, etc. Most places use Church basements and cafeterias which I think those organizations may allow usage as long as the members clean up afterward, put chairs away, etc.

I assume you mean WOŚP? If so, I don’t personally know about any immoral activity surrounding it. As for the music festival they organise, they have little control over how people act there (within reason), and I think the fact that they have such a fun image allows them to collect as much as they do.
