Sin to take a test for someone else?

Hi,

Someone very close to me is applying for jobs right now and for one of them he has to take online verbal and numerical reasoning tests. Obviously these tests aren’t supervised and so the company has no way of knowing if he is the person sitting the tests. He’s very busy doing a lot of travelling and preparing for an incredibly important exam of 4 years of work next week amidst lots of other stressful stuff. Would it be wrong if I took the tests for him?
 
Yes, of course it would be wrong. It is an offense against truth. Surely, as you log on and take the test you will have to falsely assert that you are him, which you aren’t. And we can never do something evil even if good may come of it.
 
Surely logging on as someone else isn’t the issue though? I’ve logged on to the same person’s online job applications to check them over before submission. What’s more, I’ve helped to write the job applications too, which I’m pretty sure is allowable. It’s the action of taking the test that’s questionable.
 
Agreed, logging on is not the issue. Logging on as someone else with the intent to deceive is the issue. The deception is perpetrated against the company who seeks to evaluate the skills of your friend. A hiring decision will be based on a lie - your numerical and verbal reasoning skills, represented falsely as his.

Of COURSE if would be a sin.

It flirts with identity theft - you are temporarily stealing his identity and being deceitful.

lying, bearing false witness. Yep. I think this one falls well outside the comfort zone.
 
Cannot be justified at all. Lying, misrepresentation, cheating. Nothing good can come of this. The fact that you have to ask shows the sad state of our nation.

Are you serious in even asking this question? How in your mind would you even justify this?
 
of course it would be wrong, it would be a lie, and furthermore a lie potentially about grave matter, seeking employment.

it is also stupid as if it ever becomes known it would jeopardize not only his job prospects, become part of his permanent record, but also backfire on you.

if he is too busy to comply with the job application process, he would not be candidate I would consider if I were doing the hiring, shows his priorities are out of order

so he “passes the test” based on your knowledge, and now is expected to apply those skills on the job, and cannot, also stupid.
