Yes it is still a sin, but culpability is lessened…Confess it.
This is probably one of the most common forms of sin. We sin, not so much because we “forget” something is sinful, but more out of habit - out of reacting instead of acting. convicting ourselves and confessing such things help us to learn to recognize more quickly our faults and correct the behavior that led to the “accidental” sin…
That’s a negative, ghostrider. For an action to be sin requires knowledge that it is, intention to do the action, and actually doing the action. Prime example is eating meat on a lenten Friday when you forget.
I did this once at a rehearsal dinner (Protestant friend), they served steak, I ate steak, and four bites in someone said “Oh, look, Catholics don’t really take the meat thing seriously.” Then I remembered, apologized, and rather than lead the other people at my table to scandal, asked if someone else would like my steak instead and looked for an extra baked potato.
Were those four bites sin? Not really, just accident. The fifth bite would have been, though.
