I sometimes say the act of contrition , 3 hail marys and use holy water on my forhead if in doubt when it comes to sin. I felt like I did at one time when leaving a confession. Can this with god’s grace forgive mortal sin so I can go to the eucharist if I have no time for a confession?

You need to discuss the situation with your priest. Mortal sin requires confession.

How you “feel” after you have blessed yourself with holy water and said some prayers is subjective.

We’re not supposed to conduct our lives based on how we feel. We’re supposed to use right reason.

You need to go to Confession.

God’s grace ALONE can forgive mortal sin. Giving yourself some minor penance has nothing to do with that. The primary source of God’s grace towards reconciliation is found in the confessional. As such, while there IS the possibility of forgiveness in offering an act of PERFECT contrition (not in just assigning yourself some little penance), there is no justification therein to attend communion without having attended confession first.

In all charity I would have to comment that if one finds the time to commit a mortal sin then one must find the time to get to confession. Convenience is not an issue when you are in need of reconciling yourself back to God and the community…teachccd

You are not allowed by the Church to receive the Holy Eucharist until you have gone to Confession to a priest for any mortal sins.

Ok then how does the holy spirit speak to us then through right reason or felling when we know there are no sins there. All I know is that I had the chance to go mass Sunday and got a headache and went home. That’s supposed to be not keeping the sabbath holy.
