You are basing this on the assumption that same-sex couples CAN make a marriage. They cannot. This is the whole point. This is what is wrong with same-sex unions in the first place. Your assumption that heterosexual and homosexual couples are equivalent is mistaken.It is one thing to teach that homosexuality is a sin, but it is another thing to actively campaign for homosexual couples to be barred from receiving the same civil benefits that are available to heterosexual couples.
