If a person remembers a previously confessed sin against chastity, experiences arousal because of such a memory and enjoys the memory, is this a mortal sin?
The way you describe it I would have to say yes. When we say we are sorry we mean we wish we hadn’t done the sin to begin with, and to return to it is contradicting this act of sorrow. It means that we have determined to move on.
Keep your mind busy on something that you like to think about that isn’t sinful.
May God bless and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.
I would say it depends on what you mean by “enjoy it.” If you simply mean that the thought came into your mind and you experienced an unbidden sensation of pleasure, then I would say that that alone is not enough to constitute sin. After some research, I am under the impression that since I had to ask, I was lacking full knowledge of the gravity of this sin. Thus, it would be venial. Now that I have obtained knowledge, future enjoyment of these memories would fall into mortal sin.
I think that we all have a tendency to remember our sins at some point or another, because we’re human. It’s just what we do with the memory. But I’d say just go to Confession. I’m not a priest or anyone with knowledge of the finer points of this, but if you have good intentions…
