Read them, I posted them. I didn’t say they were heretical, I said they were self aggrandizing feel good pap which has no business in the Mass. The object is to lift God up in worship, not the guy in the next pew. I’m not there to worship that guy and he is not there to worship me. And to think the author used Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing for the music adds insult to injury.

I think that’s actually a point in the hymn’s favor. The author set the hymn to a tune that’s memorable and people like.
Jesus is the head of the Church, but we are the body. we are called to do the work of the Lord eery day of our lives and not just attend mass. We are to spread the Gospel, take care of the poor, defend those being persecuted. Summoned in all of our diversity, summond witht he gifts God has given us, Summond to continue to build the Church anew each day by doing His work.
To sing a new Church is a metifor. We are the the song, by our actions in the world we bring Christ and the word.
The Church is never stagnet, the Spirit is never still. It is through the Holy Spirit that the Church is guided and made new. Each of us are guided by the Spirit to use our gifts for Christ Church. As the world change, the church is guided to meet new challenges and new needs. The scripture and tradition is to recognize and meet the needs of human dignity. This is how we praise God the Most.
Let us not throw out fake stuff no one is saying. No one believes the Church should be stagnant. However, that is an enourmously different thing than saying the the Church should be made anew. I challenge you, or anyone to show me where in Catholic Church it says that we are to make the Church anew, build a new Church or in any other way change the Church other than through growth, continuing from were we are. Since the first, the Church was built on the foundation of the apostles.
We pray Come Holy Spirit , Renew the face of the Earth. Does this not include the Church?

There’s the story of St. Francis and the Crucifix of San Damiano, where he hears a voice telling him to “rebuild my church”. St. Francis took the voice literally and repaired the chapel, before realizing what the message really meant.

As I said, the issue is not renewing the Church, or rebuilding, but rather bringing a new Church into being. This past Pentecost we celebrated the birth of the Church, and that was done by the power of the Holy Spirit. There will never be another Church brought into being, and that was done by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Parsing is accurate, in that I, among others, am applying critical thinking. “Fretful hand-wringing” is negative rhetoric as no one is actually fretting or wringing hands. It belies your point. As to what Jesus would think, or what Jesus would do, unless one has a private revelation straight from Jesus, then the question is nothing but a begging of the question, which reflects only on one’s own opinion and has nothing to do with Jesus. The point is, until we get to heaven, we have not the slightest clue what Jesus thinks of the song, or our conversation concerning the song. Obviously if we treat each other with a lack of charity, that is a sad commentary on us. But be careful not to confuse disagreement with lack of charity.
