I tried to listen to the sermon she gave, but the sound quality isn’t the greatest and she talks fast.
Here’s the problem: If she were talking about white supremacy, she would be welcomed with open arms.
Some of the comments sound controversial, but I find the cancellations of her to be ridiculous and along the lines of regressive censorship.
Although I do not agree with the tenor of her statements, I am going to support her because there is are very disturbing anti-free speech, virtue signaling forces at work here.

The way I see it Kim can say what she wants and of course she won’t be on Ellen if she expresses any anti gay sentiment. That’s the way the Ellen show works. God forbid you would even say you think homosexuality is disordered. That would probably off you as well.
I personally wouldn’t waste a lot of worry over not being on the Ellen Show as it shows she herself is discriminatory in the sense of you aren’t whole heartedly pro gay marriage and the entire agenda you can’t be on her show to begin with.

I don’t understand this comment. You mean to say if she was criticizing white supremacy, she would be welcomed? Why is that a problem? White supremacy is a bad thing. So is homophobia. This comment seems to amount to, “If she had said something else, the reaction would have been different.”
Virtue signalling lost all of its meaning almost as soon as it fell into popular use. I get the use of the term when it’s applied to the vocal left-liberals who want to seem progressive without actually doing anything, but now it seems to just mean that a left-winger made a normative statement.

I really don’t see it being discriminatory. The Ellen show is a private venture so she not denying any legal rights. It also makes perfect sense that a lesbian would not want an anti-gay person on their show when other options are available. Would you want an anti-Catholic on your show if you were a show host?

She is free to express her views and Ellen is free to decide whom she wants on her show. The first amendment protects you from government censorship, not social consequences. I don’t see how anyone can fault Ellen for not wanting to promote someone who sees her and her family as degenerate.

I agree it’s perfectly legal of course. I would personally not want to have a show where the criteria was everyone agreed with my amoral choices in life. I don’t see the analogy of having an anti Catholic on a show about Catholicism the same thing.
That said I’m up for some debate on issues so I wouldn’t have a show where agreement was the name of the game

Ellen is not tolerant. That is she doesn’t put up with things she disagrees with. Most liberals aren’t.
While I disagree with it why can’t you make a civil rights argument. These rights apply to all other ‘private’ businesses. The fact this is a TV show on licensed public broadcast stations could be further justification for this being a violation of rights.

Of course it’s discriminatory. That doesn’t mean it’s illegal. It’s illegal if a (private venture) baker won’t make a cake for a gay marriage, but it’s not illegal for a media personality to have required views for anyone to be a guest on her show.
I don’t think either case should be illegal, but both are discriminatory.

Ellen as a private show has the right to choose whom she wants on her show. It would have been interesting to see if the two could have had a dialogue about their differing viewpoints but I doubt either side wanted or really desire that.
One major issue I have with is Kim’s sermon (from what I was able to read about it) pushes that if a person has same sex attractions they must be demon possessed or something. Now that might be that she comes from I think a more Pentecostal background but I find it a dangerous perspective to have as it discounts the realization that we live in a fallen world thus all have inherited some kind of disordered desires. Instead, it seems to push (albeit I don’t know if it is her intention) that good Christians don’t have this issue (only people possessed by demons). It does (and coming from a perspective of someone who deals with SSA on a daily basis) that I’m somehow less of a ‘true Christian’ and without finding the support in my cross could have lead to the conclusions that either I’m unlovable thus unsavable because one has not eliminated these attractions or away from Christianity all entirely. But more than likely, she’ll never consider her poor word choice, lack of explanations, lack of nuance and just pat herself on the back for a good job well done.
She certaintly isn’t the only Christian pastor or person to push that gay people are just demon possessed but it is rather frustrating and the silence from conservatives to call her out on it (AND NOT the teaching of traditional marriage) is a little discouraging.
Maybe just another reason why I remain Catholic as the Church can recognize my cross without compromising Godlinesss and without throwing unncessary and extra weight on my back.

The words ‘free speech’ and ‘censorship’ are so misused they lack all meaning outside of a courtroom or academic environment. They mean you are free from governmental consequences and restraint, not that you’re owed a platform by any person, network, or website or that you’re entitled to social approval for your opinion.
I’m sure the people whining about this are equally as disturbed and upset by CAF’s very strict posting policy as it relates to anti-Catholic material.

I think CAF is actually pretty tolerant. Your post is well said and very eloquent. You are not alone with feeling “demon possessed” as an answer to SSA is a dangerous theory and is hurtful to many with SSA in my opinion . I wish more conservatives would speak out against this perspective but the issue is all about Ellen it seems and her refusal to have her on the show.
I wish there could be a discussion about the issues but I feel you are right on target, it’s not what either party wants.
Feel not alone, my friend suffers from mental illness and has also been told by well meaning people that perhaps she has been possessed by a demon. She has be properly evaluated and on the appropriate medication and says as you do that it her “cross to bear” in this fallen world.
I also agree we have all inherited some disordered desire. My friend remains Catholic for similar reasons you do and myself as dealing with my own personal cross.
