Do you sing at mass?

I ask because on Sunday nobody wants to sing (besides the choir), and therefore it is difficult for me to be the only one.😊

I like to sing, so that is one reason I like to go to a weekday mass, where we all participate.

I sing during mass even though I can just about hold a tune most of the time. We don’t have a choir and I doubt that even half of our small congregation join in the singing, let alone the responses.

I noticed that at the First Holy Communion mass when the children sat with their parents, hardly anyone sang, but this year the children sat with (and under the watchful eye of) the catechists and teachers from their school and they all sang beautifully.

I sing at mass, many people do at our parish. I also sing in the car on the way home, but that’s another story. šŸ˜‰

I sing at Mass. I have no problem at all with the Ordinary of the Mass, the setting is easily sung. I have more difficulty with certain hymns. My mother used to say that I sing in the crack between keys. 😃

I do to and then I can sing it in any key I want without having to match the choir. šŸ˜‰

I do. I’m a Southern Gospel singer (low voice), so I improvise a bass line to most of what we do. Much of the congregation also participate, so I’m not the Lone [Bass] Ranger.

It may be your location.

Some cultures are much more reserved.

We’re in the South…EVERYBODY sings. The hymns or pieces that I know they doesn’t know well, I save for the Communion Meditation. (I’m the Director)

TOO, I do ā€œtooā€.

Hate noticing that kind of mistake outside the editing ā€œwindowā€.

I don’t. I have a terrible voice and I’m too self conscious.

ā€œDon’t worry if it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear, just sing, sing a song.ā€

I am sure it is all music to God’s ears. šŸ˜‰

Even though we have a choir on the side, everybody sings in my parish.

I visit a lot of different parishes over weekends when I’m traveling. Sometimes the choir makes it next to impossible for the laity to sing. Yesterday we did the Gloria alternating from Spanish to English with each line of the prayer. 95% of the congregation just stood there.

When I am able to sing, I sing loud :o It’s how I was raised, plus I have a great voice, lol.

Yes, I sing. Not necessarily very well but… as the saying goes, if you can’t be good, be loud.

Blessings,
Stephie

I don’t. Nothing against those that do but I don’t.

A little. Quietly. A low voice and a speech impediment make for an unpleasant tune.

My phone autocorrected ā€œtuneā€ to ā€œtimeā€, which is equally valid.

I do even though I am tone deaf, I love singing hymns, I’m really not a fan of services without any singing.

Yes I do sing at Mass. I may be no professional like Adele or Celine Dion but I can manage & have been told I sing decently. My penance weekly is sitting next to my parents who can’t sing at all.

At long last–a description of my singing!!! TY
