I was asked the other day weather man could theoretically live a sinless life, and was not sure how to answer. Didn’t Christ defeat the power of sin, thus making it possible in theory?

The question really must be, can any of us live without sometimes being unkind or neglectful to others. Can any of us live through life without ever being unloving to ourselves at some time.
To not sin is to never act unlovingly. Who of us never acts thus. The commandment of God, the basic requirement, taught to us by Jesus, is to ‘love God above all and others as ourselves.’

Can any of us invariably do this?

When Jesus describes the Last Judgement in Mattew 25, verses 31-46, He makes clear that sin is not loving, not caring for others, and even, not caring properly for ourselves.

We’re human, with our own private awarenesses, so we are unlikely never to give in to selfishness that deprives or hurts others.

God has ultimately redeemed us from the effects of our sinfulness. Redemption has become possible instead of impossible through Jesus’ sacrifice. In this way, God has ultimately defeated the power of sin, the consequence of sin that separates us in any way from the great, pure love of God

I would think a person who grew up with no knowledge of the bible itself, religion, or any kind of societal life could live a sinless life, since anything they would do would be un-informed and they wouldn’t know any better.

Indeed, there are countless examples in infants who die before the age of reason, or the severely handicapped. Their stain exists only in original sin. I’ve also heard the Church teaches John the Baptist, while not conceived without sin, may have lead a life without sin.
