Hi,
Suppose this happens.
One goes to Confession and is absolved. Penance given will take some time…not due to seriousness of the sin but logistics. The preist and the confesser forget the Act of Contition.
Where and when does actual absolution take place? After all the requirements are met or as the priest says the works and holds his hand out?
What if the sinner is working on a problem that while minor may be frequent in nature and happens to commit such a sin on the way to penance out of weakness not trying to slip one in?
Is absolution null and void? is the sin on the way to penance forgiven? Does the sinner run back and say to father: “I did that one again”? please re-absolve me!"
Since the confession was long and many other things included does it just kinda show up as one demerit or since the actual confession isn’t over is it all part of the original deal. I just know the look father will have on his face if I show up just with this one little thing but feel as though I haven’t been fully absolved as I’ve not completed the act.
Yes this happened to me!
Yikes!
