Is it possible to sin during sleep? A few nights ago I dreamt that I was having an illicit affair, and that I gave in to it instead of resisting and saying “Hey, this is wrong. I shouldn’t be doing this.” Except then that I woke up, relieved that I wasn’t having an actual affair, that it was in my sleep. Did I commit a sin?

To commit a sin you must knowingly and willingly consent to a sin.
In your sleep it may be a matter of desire, but it isn’t a decision of your will.
You didn’t sin in your sleep but speak to God about it and ask His grace to keep your desires pure and wholesome

NO!

NOPE! This happens to me on occasion too. What’s strange is that these type of dreams have actually increased a little since I quit porn cold turkey several months ago. I think Satan is upset with me. He’ll have to get over it!
😃

A daily Act of Contrition during the morning prayers is always a good idea anyway!

Read CLEAN OF HEART, by Rosemarie Scott, published by RAGE Media. It is excellent for those who have struggles with purity and are seeking healing from the Lord.

Dreams are interesting… sometimes they are a gateway to our subconscious desires.

I’m no expert. I took an interesting course in college, that’s all.

Could just be a simple dream - “allowing” you to do something unchaste, as a kind of relief for the effort of being chaste.

Could be a way of telling you that you are being “unfaithful” in some different aspect of your life. I might have a dream like that after missing Mass on Sunday, for example.

Could be a way of telling you that the person in the dream is a threat to your chastity in some way.

There - just a few random thoughts about dreams. My two cents - and probably not even worth that.

To God be the glory,

Ruthie
