On Catholic radio today I was listening to them talk about our sins being revealed before everyone during the Last Judgement(sorry, could not find the scripture on this). Does this mean sins that have already been forgiven, or sins not forgiven, or both? I thought maybe the sins forgiven might not be revealed since we are told that they are forgotten once forgiven by God in the sacrament of Penance.

Next I saw a large white throne and the one who was sitting on it. The earth and the sky fled from his presence and there was no place for them. I saw the dead, the great and the lowly, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, the book of life. The dead were judged according to their deeds, by what was written in the scrolls. The sea gave up its dead; then Death and Hades gave up their dead. All the dead were judged according to their deeds.
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the pool of fire. (This pool of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the pool of fire.
Revelation 20:11-15

Jeremiah 31:34b "…for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more."

When our sins are forgiven, God remembers them “no more”.
How can He reveal what He doesn’t remember!!! 🙂
God is so delightful/joy filling.

Hi, pray4peace!

…though you’ve received an excellent reply, here’s my contribution:

“So I tell you this, that for every unfounded word men utter they will answer on Judgment day, since it is by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words condemned.” (St. Matthew 12:36-37)

“Come now, let us talk this over, says Yahweh. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing to obey, you shall eat the good things of this earth. But if you persist in rebellion, the sword shall eat you instead.” The mouth of Yahweh has spoken. (Isaiah 1:18-20)

There are two distinct audiences: the obedient and the disobedient. Those who seek Yahweh God and not only repent but abide in His Word (Commandment) since they confessed their sins and sought to humbly submit themselves to God, their sins are forgiven. Those who choose “self” rather than God, their sins witness against them.

There is one thing Christ said that seems to hint at others being aware of our own faults, “What you say in the inner room will be shouted from the roof tops.” I have taken this ‘inner room’ as meaning the mind, in other words, hear peoples thoughts.

Note that David’s adultry and murder of Uriah, Paul’s participation in the stoning of Stephen, etc have all been forgiven, but are still remembered - to their credit rather than their disgrace.

I think that when we face God, He won’t have to say much. I think we will see ourselves as we truly are. That experience will probably be a painful one as we tend to see ourselves in the best light and hide or cover up the warts and scars. Our own imperfections will scream out and be apparent to all. Painful but survivable since everyone else will be going through the same experience. After the pain we become aware that, warts and all, He loves us for exactly what and who we are. Now for most there will be a time of acceptance of God’s love and His forgiveness and their sins and imperfections will disappear for all of eternity. Others will deny His right to forgive and love. They themselves will cling to their false identities and decide Hell is preferable to the necessary exposure of themselves.
My hope and prayer is that I will be prepared to accept. To deny would be more horrible than I dare contemplate. Toward that I pray for God’s grace to keep a real view of myself, warts and all so that with His help I can stand and suffer and accept both His Truth of me and His forgiveness.

I cant imagine that it will matter that we confess and admit our sins before all other humans, since, after all, we are admitting them before God Himself! Compared to that, telling each other is nothing much to be concerned about. And the reward…to never be cut off from God…worth anything, anything at all.

My thinking (no article of faith here) is that it will take an enormous effort and here is why:
We humans, we sinners, take GREAT pains to hide our imperfections from others. Why that is I am not sure. We should know that God sees all and knows all and yet it doesn’t seem to bother us that He knows when we stumble but woe is us if our neighbors find out. Perhaps part of our fallen nature, but we seem determined to live the “best” lie we can and having that lie exposed is always the most painful of experiences even when it is , in truth, rather trivial.
It is therefore possible that some would rather face an eternity apart of God rather than give up the lie; as absurd as that might sound to most.

Hi, Chuck H!

…I think that it is due to will–we satisfy our ego by presenting the world with “the image” we desire to project; humans judge according to outward appearences; God demands that we submit our will to His and since He judges according to our inner being there’s nothing we can hide from Him: it is easier to live a lie than to live His Life!
