Sins equally bad?

I apologize in advance because I know there have been multiple post on this. I just would like it to be explained so a teenager could understand it. The other day I was talking to one of my friends who converted it seems like to a Harvest Chapel. We were on the topic of sins and I said" you don’t believe all sins are equal do you"? She said" yeah I do" So then I asked here" who says that"? Her response was The Bible says it. I know that all sins are NOT equal. It just doesn’t make sense. I was just wondering what verse may she be referring to? Plus is there any Bible verses that point out the fact that ALL SINS ARE NOT EQUAL?
 
Genesis 4:13 “And Cain said to the Lord: My iniquity is greater than that I may deserve pardon.” Murder led to Cain to acknowledge that this sin was greater than could be forgiven and he accepted being cast out. Cain communed directly and easily with God; there were no burning bushes. God had warned Cain that sin was crouching at the door and that he must take dominion over it (Genesis 4:7). When Cain committed murder, God declared him cursed (Genesis 4:11). God protected Cain from being murdered himself by placing on him a mark and promising to punish further murders sevenfold.

Here we have an instance where Christ says that those who handed Him over to Pilate have the greater sin, than Pilate. This would not be the case if all sins were equal.
 
One son is having a bad day, loses his temper and says something unkind, but quickly retracts it. His brother, who is holding a grudge from two years ago and has been plotting his brother’s death, attempts later that day to kill him slowly and painfully, but gets caught. Should the dad punish them the same?

The bible never says that all sins are equal. Why did she make a claim and leave it up to you to find a bible verse to prove her claim? The onus is on her to provide the proof since she’s the one who made the claim. Ask her if someone who lies about their age commits an equal sin as someone who molests a child. She should say no.

I agree. Its not up to us to refute an unsubstantiated claim.
Its up to the OP’s friend to provide the source in the Bible for her claim.
