Hi!

…I’m at a loss, could you expound on that?
If you’re at a loss as to how this is in relation to 7:14, this is the reason why I said thread derailment. If you are requiring the actual text, I will quote but not expound, as it isn’t part of the thread’s topic. I mean, it’s not my job to do so, eh?

NABRE: Sirach 4:17-xx

I will walk with them in disguise,
and at first I will test them with trials.
Fear and dread I will bring upon them
and I will discipline them with my constraints.
When their hearts are fully with me,
then I will set them again on the straight path
and reveal my secrets to them.
But if they turn away from me, I will abandon them
and deliver them over to robbers.

Or from the English translation provided at vatican.va:

She walks with him as a stranger, and at first she puts him to the test; Fear and dread she brings upon him and tries him with her discipline; With her precepts she puts him to the proof, until his heart is fully with her. Then she comes back to bring him happiness and reveal her secrets to him. But if he fails her, she will abandon him and deliver him into the hands of despoilers.

A little bit later you find “Even to the death fight for the truth and the Lord God will fight for you.”

Hi!

:o:o:o

…sorry, I misunderstood the intent of your warning… I actually thought that you were making reference to the previous post/s…

…I did not see a divergence… alas, you were speaking to your own tangent!

No apology necessary, man, it happens (to the best of us as they say ;)).

Actually, as usual, it seems the book is wholistic in nature, so maybe the quoted passages could be understood with 4:17 without being so apparently separate topic-wise?

C’Ya.

Hi!

…well, it is within the realm since it goes to what is in effect: the heart of man… when it turns to God in empty gestures or turns from God in willful disobedience… it harnesses the same end: man stands alone, without God’s Protection and Guidance.

Yes, and yet steadfast ones are those said to have been martyred. Many saints have been said to have written that they felt abandoned without guidance during a ‘dark period/night of the soul’, let alone the many children having been abused. This makes for an interesting meditation/discussion.

Hi!

…yes… (not an avid reader); I’ve heard it say that they have in deed felt or fell into intense desperation… feelings of abandonment or of being found unworthy by God…

I think that this would be an interesting topic… I will attempt to formulate a query that might help us delve into this…

It simply means - “Pray it don’t say it.”
Ah, but some are apparently quite fond of utilizing the larynx
…(demonstrating the surety of its proper working order, of course).
…or so it seems.
