lol,

I’ll make make every effort not to live my life in a fashion too narrow minded for some pay radio station. I hear Howard is doing some kind of live porn on this new show. Maybe EWTN should find a new home as well. As for you troy, I see worse things then Howard Stern every day and I don’t live in a bubble. Catholics boycott things, all sorts of things all the time. Should they not? If Fox TV puts porn on every night at 8:00PM are you going to throw away the baby with the bath water or just turn your head?

-D
Where does it end if you want to boycott a radio station because of one show. Boycott drug companies that might make the Pill? Doctors who have patients in a hospital that performs abortions? Any product made by unionized labor who give part of their dues to pro choice candidates?
When that woman started the " Married ,With Children" boycott a few sponsors left. They came running back when the boycott drove millions to check it out and the ratings went up. I think the same thing would happen with Howard Stern. Millions would start tuning in to see what the fuss was about!

Life is too short to be worrying about what others do. I choose to enjoy my life and not limit myself to cool and fun stuff cause a minority few share the EARTH with me.

Say your prayers, vote your conscience (NOT YOUR PARTY), use your remote and the knob on your radio when something offends you and you’d be surprised how all things equal themselves out.

I aint got time for Boycotts and Censorship.

What a narrow minded way to live life. So because Stern now has ONE CHANNEL on a radio that features like 150 commercial free music choices people should now dump Sirius?
EWTN is on SIRIUS…so should they dump them as well? Its AMERICA not SOVIET UNION… that means FREEDOM…that means to get the good you gotta tolerate the bad to a certain extent. I hope Stern fails, but Catholics should NOT dump Sirius.

I just dont get some members on this site.
First of all I need to say that I do not subscribe to Sirius nor cable TV or any other" pay for" venues! I don’t plan to.
You say we live in AMERICA not the SOVIET UNION. That means FREEDOM. So I suppose that you think that only applies to you and your beliefs. Darrel should not be allowed to voice any opinion counter to yours…Where is his freedom…He should not be allowed to call sinful krap as he sees it, because you think we all need to tolerate sin or else they may take away everything else…give me a break. I believe if you find something offensive or in bad taste…or if you just plain dont like it… you have every right to complain to anyone you like…I do agree with one commet you made though…" I just don’t get some members on this site".

Your post makes no logical sense. See, FREEDOM is a 2 way street.

You ask where is his freedom to voice his opinion?

Its right here. It can be read and wasnt deleted or censored.

You mistake freedom in thinking someone should have their say and NOT be countered. I countered, THAT is MY freedom. You dont have the right to say what you want and NOT be expected to have an opposing view. I’m sorry if that is hard to accept but that is what freedom is all about. I wasnt the one imposing my viewpoint of what others should do. You should commend me for defending ALL OUR freedoms btw. 😉

If you were able to read and comprehend what you read you would understand that I was simply stating that Darrel should not be hindered in stating anything that he pleases! I can tell from your replies that concept is going to be hard for you to grasp. Sorry that my posts make no “logical sense”. I need to thank you for pointing that out. In the future I will try to respond in a way that everyone will be capable of understanding. Oh and by the way thanks for being the one that defends all of our freedoms! You are my hero!

We have Sirius in both cars now - for EWTN (now that CA Live is on for 2 hours all the better)!

I also listen to Martha Stewart, NPR, great music channels…

Will never listen to Stern, I know how to use the remote!
Even if you don’t listen to stern, it seems with his huge contract that most of the subscriptoin money must be going into his pocket. Kind of creates a moral dilemma in my opinion

According to what I’ve read, most of his compensation is in the form of stock (or stock options)… the day traders are actually paying Stern 🙂

Sirius seems like a waste of money unless you gotta have Stern, which I sure don’t. Sirius’s music licenses have access to only 500k songs while, XM has access to 2.2M songs . XM seems like the better deal IMO.

This is just insane. This yahoo is getting $100,000,000 a year to do a morning talk show as the poster child for degenerate living. If any Catholic has this service they should dump it.

I spend 3 hours a day in my truck going to and from work. I listen to sirus the whole time. I listen to the way of the cross in the morning and then the morning prayers. I listen to Kresta in the afternoon and then catholic answers after that. I won’t get rid of my sirus that gives me so much because of a degenerate that never even enters my mind.
God bless,
maggiec

I think about a third of his salary or something is stock. Still though, I think that company is in debt, so any revenue is pretty much just covering what they’ve already paid him

Sirius Moves to Censor Howard Stern

Howard Stern may curse the day he decided to leave terrestrial radio and jump to Sirius – the satellite broadcaster is taking steps to censor the shock jock.

The morning drive-time radio host said he left terrestrial radio because he was fed up with censorship by individual stations and FCC fines for indecency. Now, in what must be a painful irony for Stern, Sirius executives are developing an internal document that will set boundaries for his show.

Just something I was thinking about

The government is of the people, by the people, for the people. If the people were upset about his show being censored, then we would make it a priority in our political choices. Why would it be such a shock to him that the *majority *of consumers don’t give a hill of beans if he is censored. In a free market, if the consumers boycott sponsors or are asking Sirius to tame him or get rid of him, that is just consumers buying what they like. Perhaps his fan base isn’t as wide as he thinks.

I often hear some Christians saying they can’t speak freely. When I ask why, they say some group will jump on their words and criticize them. If that’s all it takes to keep someone quiet, I have to ask if they really had anything important to say.

It’s a bit like the huge salaries paid to professional athletes or movie stars. Howard has set a new standard. But someone will eventually break it.

The vast majority don’t listen to him. Now the only people who do are those who buy the special equipment, special antenna, and subscription to Sirius. Only a sliver of the population will even know he is there.

I’m not sure if he has really set a standard, I think it was a bad investment. Sirius shelled out all that money to get some dirtball on the air in an effort to get attention. They paid too much, don’t think it will work out. And as what i deem to be a good catholic, i couldn’t give my money to support stern or that company

I think their subscriptions have increased 50% since August. I don’t follow it closely, but that’s what I recall from reading an item a few weeks ago.

I’m not sure about the growth, but xm has 6 million subscribers and sirius has 3 million. Getting howard seemed kind of a desperate move and they overpaid. That’s just from a figures standpoint, from a personal standpoint, i can’t morally give a company money that is forking that money over to some filthy man.

We beleive that although God is patient eventually he intervenes and exercises His wrath. I hope His patience is running out on the evil that is The Howard Stern Radio program.
