On that point, I agree 1000000%

But you just made me think of something: What if my comments strike a chord (no pun intended) with someone here? What if that person re-evaluates his/her reactions to other styles of music, and ends up becoming turned on to them? It could open up a whole other world for that person.
 
I thought the movie was ok… but I still don’t like Whoopi! 😛

Using secular lyrics in a sacred setting is nothing new, we had a rookie priest do the same thing when I was in high school. That does not make it reverent, appropriate or musically appealing.

Are you assuming that that’s the reason for most people who prefer newer? Or do you have a study to back that up? I tend to like newer, not because I’ve been taught to like newer by the media. I like newer because God repeatedly told us to “Sing a new song.” (See Psalm 33:3 for an example)
