Sisters in Crisis: The Tragic Unraveling of Women’s Religious Communities: written by Ann Carey

I had posted an article written by Fr. Trigilio that has been removed (not sure why). In that thread, musicadmirer mentioned that there should be a book written about what has gone on in convents from the '60s til now. The above book gives an excellent account of what has gone on in women’s religious communities over these last several decades. It is a factual book with evidence to support all statements. It also sheds a lot of light on the truth of Vatican II documents as opposed to the abusive, distorted interpretation of them.

I would strongly recommend this book to all Catholics, and even more especially to women considering the sisterhood. It will give you an accurate account of the recent history of what has gone on thereby enabling you to enter the sisterhood with your eyes wide open. I would also suggest this for any women who many have left the sisterhood during the turbulent years following Vatican II. It can provide a lot of closure and answers to previously unanswered questions.

Yes, Cyb, I couldn’t agree more. I think it is required reading for anyone who has lived through the past 40 years of turmoil within the Church. It is also very good for any Catholic today. I checked with an ex-nun and an active nun ( both about 65 yrs old)
and they both agree that the book is accurate.

This book, and “Goodbye, Goodmen” will give every Catholic a lens with laser sharp focus through which to view the actions of priests and religious. You will see the manipulations and learn the buzz words so that you can be more alert to where heresy slips in.

I see hopeful signs that the orders which, shall we say* do it their way*, are rapidly aging and in decline.

Meanwhile, newer orders are growing rapidly. In time they will replace them I pray.
