Please, all of you knowledgable people, tell me the reason we are now called to stand when the priest says “For the Praise and Glory of His name…”
Our parish has always stayed seated for just that, then all will stand after saying that phrase. I realize other parishes have been called to stand, then say that sentence but we never have until today. I wondered the reasoning behind it?

My first reaction was because the bishops wanted it. I called my parish and caught one of my priests off gaurd and he said 'Because the Bishops wanted it". We all know this is not a good answer. Now I’m curious and I also want to know. Thanks for posting this faith_ful1953us.

Strictly speaking, the reason we now stand for the response is because that is how the instruction on posture has been modified with the recent GIRM norms. The reasoning behind this seems to be that standing is a more prayerful and appropriate body position for petitioning the Lord.

Okay, thank you for answering. I guess it is as simple as that. I should have known. I was thinking there was a deeper reasoning.
