The show is awesome and well written. In the real world, many families have parents who have married younger people, kids who are either academic nerds or aren’t interested in college and a gay brother or sister with a life partner. Many of the episodes deal with real family issues and show compassion and love that this family has for each other. 🙂
Agreed. And what I also like about it is that each character has their moment to shine as well as look like an idiot. Like real people. Not one single character is comes out looking better than any other. They are all flawed and love each other regardless of those flaws.

I’m not understanding how you say it is “pushing” an “agenda” (especially since you’ve never seen the show) just because it has a gay couple as characters.

Are TV shows that have Catholics in them “pushing” a “Catholic agenda”?

This show is representing a very typical example of a gay couple. The writers show this couple in all their flaws and good qualities, too…and as well as showing all the flaws and good qualities of the other non-homosexual characters as well.

The show is not presenting them in any superhuman light or whatever.

.
I don’t get the big deal either. Out of the eleven charectors on the show only two are gay. It’s certainly not like watching Queer as Folk!

I’m not going to comment on the show because I’ve never seen it. I think most everyone on this site takes their faith or lack of faith seriously and are more informed than the average joe out there. So, I leave it to your conscience to dictate whether it’s appropriate for you and/or your family to watch.

I will say that some people out there seem conflicted about it and almost express a resignation to watch it simply because it’s out there and it’s a popular show. In this day and age especially with the internet at our disposal the choice for entertainment is limitless.
You can watch shows from all corners on the earth most for free or for a small fee legally in English or with subs. I myself don’t watch many US shows, just a select few because I find them unappealing or laden with inappropriate behavior. There are exceptions of course and I will patronize such shows.

Again my friends don’t feel like you have to watch whatever show is put out there for us, you have a choice. 😉

Sitcoms with Catholic characters: “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “The King of Queens” - both of which regularly showed the main characters interacting with their priest and even going to Mass together. 🙂

There are some funny moments…but yes it pushes the gay agenda. Mainly I watch it to see Sofia Vergara. I block out everything else.

No, there is definitely, an agenda, they just don’t bring it up in every episode. For instance, the girls are in the truck with Uncle Cam, and something is said that sounds like a gay stereotype, and Cam tells them he would expect that type of remark from their grandfather’s generation, but not theirs (see kids? Only ignorant old folks have any problem with the gay lifestyle, not young, hip, good-looking people!!!)

I rarely watch American comedy. So much is available from England and elsewhere now through Amazon, DVD, we don’t have to rely on what Hollyweird thinks in funny.
