Hi all, is sitting while the tabernacle is not fully closed a mortal sin?
Some context: Almost everyone in my parish sits while the tabernacle isn’t fully closed, but I learnt in Catechism lessons we aren’t supposed to sit.
Thank you!

Isn’t it a sin as we are supposed to show reverence to the Eucharist?

No it isn’t a sin .

Yes we show reverence to the Eucharist at all times .

Sitting down before the tabernacle door is closed is not being irreverent .

If one were slouching or lying down on the pew it would be a different matter ,

Ok thanks, but would it be a mortal if I sat although I was unsure if it were a mortal sin? Because almost everyone else was sitting besides 2 people in front, and Communion was over although the priests were dealing with the “plates”

No .

If you have received Holy Communion you should be concentrating on the Eucharist within you rather than on whether people are sitting or kneeling .

The Eucharist is in in the Tabernacle (in most parish churches) when you step into the Church for Mass. You sit, stand, kneel, during Mass.
