Situation in Libya

Do you think what the US and UN are doing in Libya is justified?

I’ve been watching the situation fairly closely over internet new for the past couple of days and I have to say we are in a sticky situation. While its right to fight militarily to protect civilians, there have also been reports of civilian casualties by our strikes. At the same time we are protecting the same people that celebrated 9/11 after it happened. Maybe this is a good opportunity to show the Arab world that we are fighting for them- provided we dont drop the ball here like we did with Afghanistan in the 80s.

What is a Christian soldier/ fighter pilot to do when they are told they are being sent here to fight and there is a big grey area?

Follow all LAWFUL orders. Peace
Oh and just for the record. U.S. troops, and pilots do not target innocent civillians. Unfortunately collateral damage does happen but we go to the NTH degree, to keep it as low as we possibly can. No civillian casualties would be the best scenario. Peace.

I felt conflicted about this. Initially, I think it’s like a nice neighbor helping to fight of the enemy, and to help stand up for what’s right, rather than minding your business and letting the unethical killing continue.

As of lately, I’m starting to side with Ron Paul, who thinks that this is just another example of America trying to show everyone who’s boss while everyone else minds their business. The fact is that many countries unfortunately have a lot of unethical killing going on, but it does more damage than good both present and in the future to try and fix everything.

Although what’s going on has been inhumane, I think the best decision for the long-term is to step back, and get our military out of over 80 countries, to stop “policing the world.”
