Hi All,
My brother needs your prayers. He’s currently involved with a woman from Texarkana who will be moving to Austin within the next 6 months or so. In fact, when my brother’s lease on his apartment is up, they plan to move in together. On top of that, she has 4 children- 4-year old twins, and 2 other children, the oldest of which is 11. The twins live with her full-time, the older children live with her part-time. My brother told my mom about this this evening, and she quite taken aback.
We don’t think he knows what he’s getting himself into. On top of the problem of cohabitation, he’s going to have to deal with visiting rights; taking the older children to Texarkana (6 hours away from Austin) twice a month to visit her ex-husband, and possibly her other ex-husband/partner coming up to Austin to visit the twins. We don’t know how he plans to support 4 children. Plus, what’s he going to do in 2 years when the oldest child says, “You can’t tell me what to do, you’re not my dad.”?
We’re not sure what to do about this. My mom e-mailed her pastor (my parents are Methodist) explaining the situation. He replied that if it was his son, he would not support him financially, but since he’s an adult, he can make his own decisions, and to not bring the subject up. I disagree. If in a few years they’re getting divorced, and 2 other kids are in the picture, and my brother has to worry about custody and child support, we’re going to feel bad if we didn’t say anything. Please pray for my brother and family. This is not a good situation. :nope:
