You are wrong on this one. Hopefully, many catholics do give five nights a week to their family. But I doubt it. The world is a busy place, filled with hobbies and school activities. Not to mention game players, TV, DVD’s and other forms of technology designed to split the family apart.“Show the importance of?” No, it was done for just the reason that I stated. mormons were getting so burned out by the constant demands of the “church”, that something had to be done. How do I know? One of our local mormon “bishops” let it slip to a co-worker of mine who was dating a mormon girl. He subsequently married her and converted her to Catholicism. I don’t know about you, Why me, but we dedicate at least five nights a week to our family. Don’t need the “church” to tell us that it is important.
A mormon bishop is just a guy with his own take on opinions and life. He was wrong also. No one is forced to accept responsibilites. I haven’t had a calling since 1990. No problem. And when a major calling is given to someone, it is required to get permission from the spouse, I believe. Quite often church events during the week can be family events. Or they can be events for teenagers and young adults. The idea is that through fellowship one can feel connected to a greater whole and give a more holistic picture to a life. The early church was no different. Paul did not stress live individually away from other church members. But to fellowship one another so to be strong in Christ.
I started a thread about what the press is saying about the lds church. Family Home Evening was mentioned.
The catholic nuns are now as always fellowshipping eachother. For after all, they will now need each other more than ever.
