Jer,17:5-8 = The first reading seems to be a warning to be wary.It seems to suggest that some if not all of our so called theologians and scientists cannot be trusted or relied on but God and His Bible can be - so take your pick - twinc

Whats your point? Still hung up about science. Science is not contradictory to nor the enemy of faith.

You are the oddist Catholic I’ve enountered as you seem to have a Bible only mentality which is totally false.

We have Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the Magesterium. In your threads you seem to dismiss the latter two and in particular the Magesterium as only being men so we should not trust them.
Your above comment says you trust God and the Bible. Are you saying you do not trust the Magesterium of the Church?

obviously I dont have to since they cannot and must not be in opposition to God and the Bible - a problem to you,it seems,but no problem to me - twinc

you fail to see or accept that the Bible and the Magisterium,Pope are guided and speak with the authority of God and not of men.There is a difference that makes all the difference that some seem to be unable or unwilling to grasp. - twinc

You say you don’t have to trust the Magesterium. That is a bad answer. All Catholics must trust the Magesterium because it is the teaching office of the Church and was established by Christ and you must believe and accept what is taught.

This idea of trusting God, not people is an interesting one, because we trust people
every day. The question is, what do we trust them for? Well, when we pick up the
phone, we trust the people in the phone company to get us an immediate connection.
When we get in the car, we trust the other drivers to stay in their own lane, and stop
at their lights. We trust the priest to say a mass if we go to church today. Scientists
too can be trusted for many things, as evidenced by their many helpful inventions.

I think we run into problems when we try to trust scientists to “have the words of
everlasting life”, or to trust people to love us as only God can. A human being can
be trusted for many things, but they can’t be trusted to be God.

We trust God, we love people 🙂

Where or when did I say that - but if you met any one or more of them and you were discussing football results then your conclusions would probably be more reliable than theres’ - twinc

You are being silly and trying to avoid the answer as you do in most of your threads.

The Magesterium of the Church is the teaching office of the Church for Faith and Morals.
Do you trust the Magesterium?
