Skeptics...question for you

I think we have to really consider Mary’s role in bringing Jesus to eart and her life with Him here. Also after He died tradition has it the Apostles looked to her for guidance and comfort

Revelation says " agreat sign appeared in Heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and on her head was a crown of 12 stars etc." In several of her apparitions she indeed had a crown of 12 stars and radiant heavenly beauty.

Speaking of “light shows”, what about the Star of Bethlehem? .

Why do you think it would end the war? I am sure that people would say it was just the effects of war… Shell shocked troops, or shells exploding in the air. If God so chose to have this miracle appear on the battlefield I am quite sure you would be here today making the argument that God should have done “his light show” at some other place at some other time, not in the confusion of War.

Why do you think that this would end War forever?

You don’t think God could get everyone’s attention? You don’t believe God, Almighty God, could get everyone’s attention?

Sadly I don’t:nope:

He sent his only begotten Son down here to be sacrificed for our salvation and that did not get everyone’s attention did it? Jesus our Lord walked among us and many did not believe. Not any fault of God’s but of the human race…

He sent his mother to some “backwater town” to send a message of repentence but some refused to believe that, didn’t they. Not because God can’t get our attention but because of our lack of faith and trust.

God works miracles all the time but we are fallen creatures who do not listen… I know that I am a sinner and fall very short of what God expects of me.

To get even one persons attention is worth the effort. I love God and believe that for him, one person to take notice fills his heart with love for us. We are only human and there is not enough faith in the world. God will not give up on us.

I’ve never met a non-Catholic who believes in it, and I know Catholics who don’t either, so there’s no point trying to lay guilt trips on me.

You can’t use the supposed miracle to validate itself, that’s circular. It’s like claiming an ointment will positively fix all known ills just because the label on the jar says it will.

This is a philosophy forum and I’m making an obvious philosophical argument. God rarely if ever puts on an inexplicable light show whether or not there’s a war going on. Unfortunately wars are far more common than inexplicable light shows. Yet it is being claimed that God, who knows the number of hairs on our heads, who cares for us so much He sent His only Son, chose to locate a light show in a back-water where we can’t even be certain what took place rather than where it could have stopped the slaughter of what was then the biggest war ever, and perhaps ended war for ever. All it needed was to write in the sky, or on the surface of the Moon, War Is Over If You Want It and then everyone would know for certain, so why did He choose not to?

I thought you might give some kind of free-will answer, you know the kind of thing, “God can’t make a 100% believable miracle because then we couldn’t choose not to believe it”.

The simplest and most straightforward way to accept the reality of Our Lady of Fatima is to notice that the Church has pronounced the Apparition authentic. That does not make it part of the Deposit of Faith, or public revelation, and so not necessary for salvation, but it does mean that there is nothing contrary to Faith in believing it. That is as good as it gets for a private revelation.

God already did put up billboards all over New York, through His servant John Lennon, indicating that War is Over if you want it Now. It seems too few wanted it, so we still have war. Not John’s fault, and not God’s.

If John Lennon, self-admittedly “more popular than Jesus” couldn’t stop war, how do you expect Jesus to do it? With a light show? Come on! Surely God is more powerful than to make the end of all war depend on a light show!

What will it take? Our Lady of Fatima actually promised the end of war. She prophesied, “In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph, Russia will be converted, and there will be Peace.”

That is Prophecy, from the Queen of Prophets. And it will come to pass, without violating free will.

So what have you done lately to advance this Cause?

One thing to keep in mind: The Miracle of the Sun is connected to Our Lady of Fatima, a private revelation. The Vatican has declared the apparitions at Fatima “worthy of belief”, but it is not public revelation, which ended with John the Apostle, and therefore is not required for Catholics to believe (despite what some well-meaning but misguided rad-trads may say )

While it is true that belief in private revelations is not required for salvation, it is at the same time true that renouncing all sin is required. It is also true that the Rosary is recommended by all the Saints to whom it was known, and in every single one of Our Blessed Mother’s apparitions.

So you think maybe there is a connection there. . .?
