Reportedly Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney went to Church as early as 1:00 AM and heard confessions for many hours every day… Confessions before every mass?**
In the old days fewer people received communion so there was no awkwardness for an individual in not receiving communion. We now have a problem which the church needs to address in some way.
Blanket Absolutions? …**Blanket!..That’s it…let us add veils to obscure the communicant! **
:compcoff:Questions regarding the “Blessing Option” mentioned…I have noted that some parishes allow unordained communion ministers to “give blessings” while others pastors have instructed that only deacons and priests should be approached to receive such.
Perhaps we should simply place the host on a paten on the altar, with the low gluten host on another and simple wafer on the third…perhaps differentiated by silver instead of gold…
This seems a practical solution but would not discourage communion “in the hand”…though perhaps the communicant would indicate and have the minister place the host or unconsecrated bread …well enough rambling…it is Lent…:twocents::
