So Skype’s terms say you must be of age to create a binding contract with them in order to create an account and use their service. That’s usually 18 in the USA I think.

However, they don’t make any effort to verify that as they don’t ask for your age. Well, I use Skype along with many of my friends We aren’t 18. Are we obligated under the pain of mortal sin to delete our accounts?

This is very similar to Google’s terms, which basically state the same thing (thus you’d have to be somewhere near 18 to use Google Search in the USA.) The Google thing was decided to be just for legal reasons and thus okay to use. EDIT: It was decided okay to use Google’s services under the age to form a binding contract with them by this community.

So is it okay for me to use Skype still?

Did you have your parent/guardian permission to create a Skype account and to use the service? If you do you’re not sinning.

Well, if you are sinning, please do let me know because my 10-year-old daughters use Skype to talk to their dad every night, and I’ll need to get them to confession.

Seriously, if you have parental permission you’re doing nothing wrong. If you don’t have permission, get it before you use Skype.
