Just started playing this! It’s a much-less lewd version of Fallout set in the late ancient world. I used to play New Vegas, but I just felt it somehow interrupted my relationship with Our Father.

Tell this noob, please: have any of you noticed any Christian elements or motifs in this game?
In Riften, you can be given a task to pass out pamphlets promoting the Temple of Mara, “evangelizing”, if you will. The main religious groups in the game worship the Eight (formerly Nine) Divines (it’s forbidden to worship the ninth Divine, Talos, for political reasons) and the Daedra. Daedra are…not very nice… (with a couple of exceptions). In Skyrim, the Nords used to worship dragons, and believe in an afterlife that is basically Valhalla from Norse cosmology.

I have not found this quest. I’d be up for passing out some Mara tracts.

You have to complete “The Book of Love” quest in the Temple of Mara in Riften, then ask what else you can do to help the temple, and you’ll get the tracts (as a miscellaneous objective).

I just started playin Skyrim a couple of days ago. Oblivion is my favorite game, so I was super exited to get Skyrim. So far I am not disapointed.
I’m doing the same thing in this game that I did in Oblivion, I’m doing all the “bad quests” first. So I start out as a bad guy, but then end as a good guy, lol.

My wife and older boys have been playing this since Christmas…I’m about to throw it away…not because of the first person killing or even the alchemy or enchantments of weapons, or the murder of a priest after he worships a demon at his altar, but the last straw was witnessing a “black sacrament” onscreen of a child trying to raise his mother from the dead using a “litany”. I think there is something very wrong with this.

I’m not sure throwig it away would be the most considerate thing to do. Your wife is an adult and has a right to play it if she wants to. If you want to put your foot down on your children playing it then thats your right as a parent to underage children (if they are underage), but I don’t think you have a right to tell your wife what she can or cannot play.

I don’t remember posing this as a question.

It wasn’t answering a question. I was simply voicing an opinion.

Man I really need to get the game guide for this game. There are so many side quests that it’s almost overwhelming!

Although I haven’t played Skyrim yet, I have played the earlier games in the series. I guess I am puzzled as to what you are objecting to.

Alchemy is nothing more than herbalism. You pick herbs and mix them together to form a potion.

The murder of the demon worshiping priest may be justified if the priest intends evil, particularly intends to kill the player character.

(name removed by moderator) has already dealt with the child trying to raise the Night Mother, which is an evil spirit. He mentioned that it was possible to stop the child from being successful. Is your objection to the game that evil is portrayed, but the good people can stop it?

I can understand the objection to first person killing. If you consider the game to be realistic, then it would be morally troublesome. Certainly games such as Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty would raise those concerns. But is a world with dragons flying around and attacking people realistic?

Has anyone else downloaded the 1.4 patch? I just dowloanded it for my ps3. So far the major issues seem to be fixed. The lag is one from what I can tell. I can also now display my armor on the manequins properly, which looks very cool. I did notice that the graphics at night are alot darker, so you can’t see as much detail. And some of the display racks in the Windhelm house are glitchy still. I tried diaplaying an enchanted knife on one o the racks and it just disapeared.
Overall I’m pleased with the patch.

When do you think they’ll release some extensions, like the shivering isles download they released for oblivion?

I don’t blame you. I nearly threw out the Bible when I got to 2 Kings 2. 😛

Who, me? I didn’t, just a joke. Point being, just because there is a disturbing element to a piece of art, that doesn’t mean it’s bad art. Sometimes the disturbing element is the challenge!

I CAN’t freeking find my cat companion guy!! RRRRRR. I think he’s DEAD and I liked the guy! 😦

I’ve waisted like 5 hours of play!!! I’m so :mad:

🙂
