I am not sure how you think about this, but because of similar thinking, some groups that I know of had rejected advices and guidiance from their own pastors. That is a big problem.
I’ve known that I was spoiled by the groups I belonged to and by the friends I had, both in CCR and those that outside of it. It was taught/understood that obedience to church authority was important. This seemed elike a no-brainer to me at the time because I was surrounded by othodox priests.

It doesn’t seem so simple now. One parish, one priest (trying to do the right thing). There isn’t a charismatic prayer group but if there was one I’m certain Father would be uncomfortable with it. As it is, CCR and the Latin Mass have been discouraged in my diocese.

I know there is weird stuff out there. Somewhere on this forum is a thread about MOG in MD. I had a near miss with them. I have heard similar “words of knowledge” such as what theresekay described.

So submitting to church authority is the right thing to do but what if it’s done arbitrarily? Like my bishop’s approach to the TLM. The pope has said make it available, bishop said “there isn’t a stable group”.
