Peace be with you.

I am seriously considering this order for my vocation, the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Their website: saintbenedict.com/

Discerning which order I’m called to, assuming I am called to one, has been the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do. The confusion is overwhelming at times.

In any event, this order seems sound to me. I’d like to know any and all feedback, thoughts, etc. from anyone with any contact with this order.

It’s very important to me and I sincerely appreciate your time.

Thank you,
NTG

Thanks for website. I didn’t know about this order - but following the footstep of St. Louis de Montfort in total consecration to Our Blessed Mother Mary is awesome!

PS: the music on the vocation video is so beautiful.

I had no idea about this order. 🙂 It’s beautiful! I already consider myself a Slave of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and I am, if my spiritual director gives me permission, making the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary as written by St. Louis de Montfort. I can’t wait!

The Sisters’ vocation video is wonderful!👍

I wonder though, are they in Full Communion with Rome? They celebrate the Traditional Latin Rite in Mass.

Yes, they acutally splintered away from the sedevacantist group of the same name and were received back into full communion (if you look at the bottom of the website linked above, you’ll see the disclaimer stating they are not associated with the other group.) There was a discussion on them a while back in the Traditional Catholicism subforum–they are listed on the diocesan website too.

The group in New Hampshire is not sedevacantist.

The famous Sister Catharine Mary of the Summit Dominicans was educated by these nuns and initially joined them. She had great things to say about them. She left because she found she had a vocation to cloistered life. I totally trust what she has to say!

This group IS the Still River group (Feenyite), which is schismatic.

From their own site:

The Latin Tridentine Mass Offered Daily
Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel
282 Still River Road • Route 110 • Still River • Massachusetts

Consider their name in light of the words of Jesus Himself: “I no longer call you servants but sons.”

Verrrrrrrrry interesting. Thanks for catching that. I wonder if Sister Mary Catharine knows this? Maybe she had some kind of conversion or wake up call and didn’t want to call attention to her former life. I’m glad you warned all of us. Verrrrrrry important!

Excuse me, but there seems to be some confusion or misinformation going on here.

Sr. Mary Catherine, OP did NOT ever belong to any kind of schismatic community. She is totally orthodox and always has been. She was a part of **this **community, which has a similar name:
sistersofstbenedictcenter.org/index.html

They are canonically recognized by the diocese of Worcester. They are 100% approved and in communion with Rome. They do use the Extraordinary Form of the mass.

Ok. I just went through BOTH the links. They are the same community. Same habits, same name, same address! It IS the same community that Sister Mary Catharine was educated by and later joined.

Now, either they are schismatic or not. That I do not know and perhaps somebody else does. I “heard” that at one time they were (under Father Feeney) and later broke away. I’m sure that someone else will know more details.

I apologize if what I said about SMC was wrong and/or rude. I did not mean to be disrespectful.

For what it’s worth, I have been in contact with a professed member of the community in Still Water and he has confirmed that his order is in full communion with the Magisterium and the Pope.

I trust he is speaking the truth.

I don’t know if I would absolutely believe what a professed member has said. They might not know themselves, although, I hope they would. What I would do, if I were you, is contact whatever diocese they are in, and ask them. They would know, without a doubt, whether or not this community is in Full Communion with Rome. I pray that they are because they are a beautiful community. Please keep us updated! God bless you!

This is the diocesan vicar for religious’ website for Worcester, MA:

198.87.234.92/vicar/ReligiousCommunities/tabid/478/Default.aspx

Scroll to the initials MICM, and you will see the community listed, and their website linked.
I went to this MICM website and then looked at the site for their school. I saw that they had a pro-life club, and when I clicked on its link, I was shocked to read what they said about the souls of aborted babies:
Code:
"OK Catholics … Read Up! THIS IS YOUR FAITH!

Does the soul of an aborted baby go to Heaven?
No Way! Absolutely Not! Forget About It! The answer is NO!

Why Not? Because, the unborn soul still has the stain of Original Sin. No soul can get into Heaven with Original Sin! This is Catholic Theology; Religion Class, Grade 1!"

Surely this cannot be the official teaching of the Church. What about the baptism of desire? I also find it a rather offensive “in your face” position which negates the infinite mercy of God.

This group is in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church? Am I missing something here?

NotThatGuy,

There’s a lot of important info on this thread which points to what my impression has been about this group, who were the Feenyites (extra ecclesiam nullus salus–taken literally, which is everyone who’s not a Catholic goes to hell)--was schismatic, but is schismatic no longer.

Despite how beautiful they seem, I think they’re tainted. AND I don’t think that they’re owning up to their origins or their past.

It doesn’t matter what Sr. M. Cath was then–it’s what she is now.

Why are you interested in them, NTG? Is it because of the Latin mass?

There have to be better orders out there that celebrate the EF of the Mass. I know a friend of mine is a seminarian in the Order of Mercy and they have been celebrating the EF since the motu proprio was released. If I were called to active life, I think they’d be the way to go, but I feel - at least now - called to the contemplative life and the order I feel called to unfortunately only celebrates the OF. It’s all holy though. 🙂

In Christ.

The member, Cloisters, on this forum, and Gemma on phatmass is an expert on who is practicing the EF, particularly in women’s orders, probably also men’s orders. you could PM her for more info on the EF in men’s orders.
