Hello all,

I have been having issues with sleep the past month. I haven’t been feeling as tired at night as I should, so I end up staying up late (some may have notice my late night / early morning posts, like this one), and I can’t get up in the morning because I feel too tired to do anything. I’ve somewhat recently been laid off, so I don’t currently have a job, so this sleeplessness really isn’t interfering with anything really important, but it is still a problem.

I’ve tried just laying in bed, but I can’t get into a comfortable position, and when I do, I still just can’t seem to fall asleep. And since I stay up late, I get up late too, usually sometime in the afternoon and then I don’t see a lot of daylight. Since I will be working on getting a job soon, I would like to work on getting my sleep schedule fixed so it’s not a shock to my system when I force myself to get up for work. If I have something like work to wake up for, I can do it, but I’ll still have the issue of getting to sleep.

These problems have only started about a month or two ago, but it is really affecting my ability and desire to get up and do things during the day, especially things that I really want to get done.

So I ask for your prayers that I manage to get my sleep schedule back into how it should be. I personally will be saying prayers to Saint Dymphna tonight/morning.

Thank you in advance for your awesome prayers!

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

I have had sleep problems many times over the years, especially during the summer (I’m a stay-at-home mom and summer vacation throws a monkey wrench into sleep patterns). But since I have started praying the rosary at night, it seems to have truly helped me relax into sleep afterwards. I don’t pray in a well lit room, and I pray right where I’m going to be sleeping. Yes, I have fallen asleep during a rosary. I stopped beating myself up about it when I realized… maybe Mary and our Lord know what I need and that would be sleep. So I finish or redo the rosary the next day during daylight hours 🙂

I’m not joking, this works for me like nothing else I’ve tried, including ambien! I’mm 43 years old and never prayed a rosary in life up until a couple of months ago. Also… I know you mentioned that you don’t get up till later but do try and get some sunlight on you. That really does help with your body’s day/night cycle. If you can’t, schedule some time a couple of times a week at a tanning booth. I always had slept like a baby afterwards 😃

Good luck. I hope you get things straightened out. My prayers are with you.

I have heard we should ask our Guardian Angel to finish our rosary if we fall asleep without finishing it! There is a great devotional (not new, unfortunately, but try Amazon) by a Brother of St (Padre) Pio. I gather he had trouble sleeping, and even was able to SEE his Guardian Angel!

I also know about sleep problems. Try a walk in the fresh air, usually works for me. I don’t recommending letting it go too far, now I sleep some days & am awake at nights. Bad “sleep hygiene”.

Praying for you two,
Love, in JMJ,
Deb :gopray2:

I couldn’t agree more! I will toss and turn for an hour or more sometimes, but the MOMENT I start saying the Rosary, I’m out before I’m finished with it. I really do try to stay awake to complete it, but if I don’t, no big deal. I always ask my guardian angel to say it with me, and to finish it for me if I fall asleep. I don’t think God gets upset. I, as a parent, LOVE when my kids are so tired and trying to stay awake to tell me they love me. Or when my newborn baby is falling asleep but keeps fighting it to smile at me!! Makes my heart melt! Precious and so innocent. I feel like God would view it that way. Like, “Oh, my poor tired baby…it’s ok, darling, go to sleep. We can talk tomorrow.”
So, yeah, try praying the Rosary while laying in bed. Make yourself get up at a certain early hour and STAY AWAKE the whole day. No napping. Good luck!

I have problem sleeping at times. I have found that even if I don’t go to sleep just laying there relaxing does make a difference in the morning. If I get up, than I am not as refreshed in the moring as when I stay in bed.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee
blessed art thou among women and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus
Holy Mary mother of God pray for us
sinners now and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end Amen

I commend you to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I pray that she helps you to discover if there is anything in your diet that is causing your insomnia. I pray that you get enough sunlight. I pray that you pray the Rosary faithfully for your needs. I pray that Our Holy Mother makes her intentions in this matter come true.

Hail Mary…

Amen.

That happened to me last year. I started praying the Rosary nightly, and got some valerian root from Walmart. Sleep problems are a thing of the past.
