Sleeping with your wife naked

My husband and I both sleep naked. I hate all the pajamas getting in the way when I toss and turn. Been doing it for 10 years. Just because you sleep naked doesn’t mean you have to have sex. And if you do, so what, you’re married! 😛
Agreed with everyting you said. My wife and I sleep naked many times and it doesn’t always lead to sex. Sleeping naked can foster an intimacy that doesn’t necessarily lead to actual intercourse.

I’m not as far along as you. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the “all contact is sexual” thinking.
You and TrueLight are doing better than me! I’m still trying to wrap my head around the “sleeveless tops on women are arousing to men” thinking.

(Yes, I do realize that if the sleeve opening gaps all the way to waist and provides a clear view of a woman’s figure, then yes, it’s going to arouse many men. But I’m thinking of the regular sleeveless tops that most women wear, simliar to the sleeveless tops that my mother and grandmothers wore, and that I wore when I was growing up and still had firm, flapperless arms !)

And over here the Protestants are the most puritanicals (over here Catholics are a supposed majority)! hahaha!

I think I surprised a Pentecostal from my University when I told her about Catholic morals and modesty (she is from the small group of women that dress with modesty in my University). Maybe was unexpected, since that seems to be overlooked most times.

Blessings!

🙂

I had always been proud of how non puritanical Catholicism is compared to some fundamental protestants.

…Until of course, I joined CAF and found out that there indeed ARE plenty of puritanical Catholics out there. 😉

I’m with you on this one!

Agree! The funny thing is I don’t know a single puritanical Catholic in real life…

Well, I place emphasis in modesty, because is a virtue that doesn’t abound (and is very important). But one has to be cautious and don’t fall in puritanism.

In countries where Catholics are “majority”, the number of practicing Catholics is low. And, from what I’ve seen, in countries were we are minority, faith is taken more seriously. Maybe in Protestant dominant countries, some of their thought is passed to Catholics.

Blessings!

Modesty is extremely important as a virtue. Sadly, it is becoming more of a rarity partly because of desperation in romantic matters.

I’m afraid I side with the puritanical Catholics when it comes to modesty!

Someone said to me once that trads are the fundamentalists of Catholicism. That may be true. :o

I have never understood how elbows are sexy. 🤷

So, Bucket, after 47 posts and way over 1000 hits, what do ya think?? Kinda scary huh;)
The number of replies doesn’t mean I don’t continue to think the thrust of the question is ludicrous or at least extraordinarily scrupulous. You’re married. You’re not contracepting nor are you engaging in any other improper sexual act. How could you be unchaste based on choosing certain sleepwear or no sleepwear? I mean I know the Church does not provide a line-by-line guide to marital intimacy (and personally I think that’s a good thing) but come on.

The greater concept of modesty is surely one that needs additional emphasis in our culture but it’s been touched on in many other threads.

Same here, and I know A LOT of Catholics.

I didn’t even know puritanical catholic even existed until I joined this site…

You should be getting your information about Catholic teachings from Church-approved sources like Theology of the Body. If you take to heart what’s floated by lay people/amateur theologians (some of whom are misguided and some of whom I can only describe as psycho-sexually damaged) you’d “get the impression” that it’s Church teaching that exposed ankles are sinful and that healthy sexual arousal towards your wife is indistinguishable from self-centered lust.

If you’re genuinely serious about learning Church teachings about human sexuality, especially as it pertains to married life, ask your priest or deacon to recommend some books for you. And take everything you read on threads like this with a massive grain of salt.

Excellent answer!

We Catholics in our history have been quite the… err… “earthy” people. For every great scholar there have been a multitude of others with the ribald joke or three. One need only look to the Canterbury Tales for a prime example of our colorful history when it comes to recognizing the amusing nature of our earthly bodies.

Surely we are to care properly for this gift God has bestowed upon us for a time but to go overboard and classify anything pertaining to the body as definitely potentially sinful is in and of itself disrespectful to our creator.

Yep.

She’s your wife. You should be happy to have her sleeping naked next to you. Wear the world like a loose garment.

Puratanism is a tough road and I feel it is way to restricting on the enjoyment of life, but the ultra religious aspects bring some people to a certain place.
