If anyone has kept up with FOX, they will have seen a new series of theirs centered around the exploits of a resurrected Ichabod Crane who, in union with a local police officer, try to avert the coming of the Apocalypse foretold in Revelations, beginning with the first Horseman, (who coincidentally is without his head), Death.

So far, there have been references to the occult, Moloch portrayed as a demon, and Masonic aid in averting the Apocalypse.

Any thoughts or opinions on the show from anyone else who has seen it?

I saw the pilot, and when the priest (Protestant minister?) use magic spells or whatever it was he was doing, I thought “you have got to be kidding me” and didn’t bother trying it again. Perhaps it’s not indicative of the show as a whole, but it wasn’t a great start for me.

I watch it.

It’s stupid harmless pulp. They don’t even get the events of the Revolution in the right order

I havent seen it yet but from what my mother says and what Ive googled it sounds like a sappy portrail of the apocolypse and it puts the occult into adverting the apocolypse like occult forces could possibly stop the apocolypse:rotfl:

That’s pretty much my case, too, considering one of the writers of the Underworld series is involved. Plus most of the occult work is done by those working for Moloch, so that, I think, balances it out slightly. The only thing I could say about them is somehow confusing the Knights Templar and Masonic Lodge. No connection whatsoever!

The only new show I like on Fox is “Brooklyn 99” with the guy from SNL. Very funny. That, and “The Goldbergs” on ABC, one of the most funniest “pro-family/pro-life” sitcoms - very funny, also. After a stressful day at work, I stay away from the serious demonic/satanic stuff.

Anyone else come into this thread hopeful for a good discussion on either the 1999 Johnny Depp starring Tim Burton film or the original classic short story, by Washinton Irving, about confronting the existence of the supernatural?

👍

TV sucks these days…

I did! I thought it would be about the Burton film 😃

Had no idea about the show, stopped watching TV ages ago. It really does sound like TV sucks and that I’m not missing out on much.

The old or the new, anything Sleepy Hollow is A-OK with me! 👍

If y’all want to do that, I see no reason why not! And I think the show, and the story itself, does deal with that theme: that no matter how “advanced” some people think modern man is, there are forces which are not subject to the physical laws of science.

I like it enough to return to it every week (thanks to Hulu). I find it interesting because of how they use historical figures and events to make a narrative, but unfortunately, like others have said, the dates and locations used are not accurate. If only they were accurate then I’d be impressed.

The mannerisms and the confusion of Ichabod when he encounters words he doesn’t know, or just his plain observations of modern times, are endearing - he’s a cool character that’s well written. What’s kinda weird for me is seeing Orlando Jones in serious role because the only thing I watched him in was MadTV, so every episode it’s like “You’re still alive and working as an actor? Cool.”

I haven’t seen it. But the girls at work talk about it because apparently one of the well-built male characters takes off his shirt a lot.

Ive never seen it, but from your description, it sounds like they are trying to interfere with what God has planned to happen, so Im assuming they not ‘good guys’…?

Im not saying any particular tv show is good or bad, should be or should not be watched by anyone, it is all entertainment and should be thought of as such, nothing more, but trying to stop events from Revelations from even occurring sounds to me like they siding with the enemy, in other words, to deny God, or Gods actions.

The thing is, it is an attempt by the demonic to begin the Apocalypse, so I think that sheds new light on it. When God starts it, there is no stopping it. But if the demonic try to do the tasks of the Divine, I think it would be possible for people to intervene. We’re given that much free will, right?

I’m not sure what Sleepy Hollow she’s been watching, but so far there hasn’t been any bare chests, unless she counts the bloody bare chest in the pilot.
