Slightly Different Absolution in Confession Today

Hello everyone–today I went to confession–when I was finished, the priest gave me absolution and started in normal formula—but then it changed slightly–it went somewhat like this: "…I absolve you of your sins…(then he went on to include the words ‘also the sins of your past life, whether you can remember or have confessed them before, etc’…in the Name of the Father, and of The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I believe that is pretty much how it went…if I remember correctly, it seems as if he cut the word sin short and said that line regarding all past sins etc…but when he was done, he finished in “In the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”. So he definitely said “I absolve you” and “In the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”…so my question is if this is a valid absolution.

I firmly believe it is, because unless I am mistaken, the essential words of the formula were said correct? Also, I belive it is permissable for priest to add words as long as it has the essential words necessary correct?

Not really stressed…just want everyone thinks. Thanks

For hundreds of years the tradition has been that the necessary portion is absolvo te a peccatis tuis, or absolvo te, or the equivalent in your language.
