Of course it does! 😃
Thank you! I love this quote: ā€˜And when you pray, go inside your room all alone and pray, and your Father in Heaven who sees everything will reward you (or words to that effect)’ (Jesus)

Read Matthew 6:1-23. We should be more like St Nicholas.

I drive to mass every morning, I live a little out of the way,and its a kilometer walk to the main road where you can get public transport. there is a man who always waves me down asking for a lift to the main road, I have a policy that i do not offer lifts to male persons, especially when I am alone, (I am a woman,), but after the tenth day or so I gave in. I am glad I did, he’s handicapped, a teacher, and needs to reach his workplace by seven AM. I am able to drop him at the gate of his school which turned out to be on my way .

Very cool!

Today I rubbed someone’s feet though I wanted to go read a book. All I could think of was that song… ā€œwhat soever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do unto meā€¦ā€
It sort of made me sad because I wanted to read that book… but it also made me glad because I was doing it for Jesus…

Hoping to give this thread another life. A couple of days ago I read a flyer at a hospital that was put up by a young lady that is on dialysis and is hoping to find a living donor for a new kidney. She gave a website to go to to fill out a survey on whether or not you may be eligible to donate. After filling out and sending the survey I got a phone call the next day. Spoke with the person asking for more info for a few minutes. She told me I’m not able to donate as I have a condition called crohn’s disease but that it was a nice gesture and that the young lady would be pleased to know someone had offered.
That evening when I went to work I placed a few 3 by 5 cards with some of the info from the flyer to spread the word a bit.
Today I donated blood. This quote from Mother Teresa is one I think of once in a while. ā€œNot all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.ā€ Blessings to all and stay safe.

What a wonderful act of kindness! šŸ™‚

A friend of mine has been suffering terribly with depression or something. It has kept her in her house for over 4 weeks. Can’t eat. Can’t sleep. Can’t go to work or even drive herself to the store… I read a thread on CAF about another person’s depression/anxiety and at the end it had a prayer. I copied it off for my friend and offered it to her to show that she is not alone and I hoped that maybe she would offer up the prayer. (She’s not catholic.) The only thing I heard back so far is that she is feeling some better and she wanted to thank me for the message.

Well done Petra. A guy I know says his qigong teacher has told him ā€œIt’s not what you do, but that you do.ā€ Blessings to you and yours.

I’ve been ill for a couple of days, sick enough to be stuck at home for all of Thursday. The Husband came home from work that evening, and seeing the state I was in took it upon himself to make dinner even though he had had an exhausting day. ā¤ļø

My priest has been on vacation since the beginning of the month, so we have not had any contact for nearly three weeks. (Eleven months out of the year we see each other every day. ā€œNo contactā€ is a big change in our respective routines.) He’s kicking back on the other side of the country. Today is his feast day—or the feast day of the saint he’s named after, to be precise—and out of the blue I sent him a text message just to wish him a happy one.

As regards selfless service or doing something for someone without any expectation of getting something in return. In Christianity it is known as ā€œtime, talents, and treasures.ā€ In the yogic tradition it is known as karma yoga. Whatever it is called I agree with this quote from Sathya Sai. ā€œService is spiritual discipline, not a pastime of the rich and well placed.ā€

Have you read about Bishop Oscar Romero?

ā€œBrothers, you came from our own people. You are killing your own brothers. Any human order to kill must be subordinate to the law of God, which says, ā€˜Thou shalt not kill’. No soldier is obliged to obey an order contrary to the law of God. No one has to ob ey an immoral law. It is high time you obeyed your consciences rather than sinful orders. The church c annot remain silent before such an abomination. …In the name of God, in the name of this suffering people whose cry rises to heaven more loudly each day, I implore you, I beg you, I order you: stop the repressionā€

The next day, he was shot.

I often go to the store in the very early AM on a Saturday or Sunday (They are open all night). When I see carts sitting around outside of the corrals - especially if they are blocking parking spaces - I gather at least some of them up and put them where they belong.

Peace
James

Thank you James. I’ve done that once or twice a long time ago. Maybe time to start again. Our new car was banged by a cart about 6 months after we bought it-has a small dent in it now. Bothered me for a while but life happens and we move on. Peace-stay safe.

Thoughtful, Upupandaway! How many just assume priests don’t need good messages… I bet their jobs have got to bring them down sometimes!!!

I just remembered an act of kindness that I was on the receiving end of over a decade ago. I was a substitute driver of school buses for a couple of school years and on one route that I had been driving for several weeks there was a young girl of about 6 or 7 years of age in particular that I remember. After about a week or so I began to learn the names of the kids on that route(special ed. route) and would welcome each one to the bus by name. Most of the kids would say hello in return and some would smile as well. This one little girl never would make eye contact, smile, say hi or anything. One day about 2 days before my last run as a substitute for that route she got on the bus and handed me a rock. The rock was about the size of an adult fist and she had colored it a bit with crayons. As she handed me the rock she smiled and went to find her seat. I kept that rock for about 4 or 5 years before letting it go. I mention this because when I think of the rock, the girl, her smile it always brightens my day just as it did that day she gave it to me. Blessings to all-stay safe.

Bought a hard-to-find pasta salad The Husband really likes while I was at the store today. Boy is he going to be surprised

Thank you for the encouragement, petra. You would not believe (or maybe you would) the number of people who criticize me for things like this.

From daily contact with him I know my priest has his hands full in the exercise of his vocation, including a number of situations no one should have to deal with in any vocation. Obviously his experience isn’t that of all priests, but I’m sure he’s not the only one facing such challenges either. I do what I can to support him, and the clergy in general.

I loaded and unloaded the office dishwasher for everyone this week. šŸ˜›

Greetings,
My wife and I have a fruitful vegetable garden this year so we’ve given some of its bounty to neighbors, co-workers, and yesterday to the mechanics at the garage we take the car to for maintenance. Take care-be well.

Today on my almost daily walk I went past a local cemetery and saw several little u.s. flags that were placed at the plots of veterans for memorial day as well as one planter on a short shepherds hook knocked over. Placed them upright. Be well-stay safe.
