Some of these smiles appear to me as veiled concern at times. I have prayer cards all over the house. As I walk past one, I glance at the Saints and they “speak” with those looks. I can’t help but think how they appear alive in them. Tim

I tried to find a photo of Pope JPII on his skis but couldn’t.

Love the photo of St. Gianna with her babies and St. Edith Stein in that hat! 🙂

As a note: upon closer inspection I believe that Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati is holding a cigar in his left hand, in the photograph.

I just love looking at the pictures of the Saints. It’s like looking through a family photo album. 🙂

I especially love pictures of JPII - there is just something about him that is so very serene that it draws me to him. What a wonderful soul.

When I went to Rome, waiting for his Wednesday angelus from his window, He was only the size of a peanut…yet…I cried like a baby. Tears overwhelmed me and I was only able to discern what happened to me after the trip…I was in the aura of holiness…

How lucky you were to be able to see him in Rome. I’ve always wanted to go there. Hopefully someday I will be able to.

For those of you guys who have seen the “Why am I Catholic” video on Youtube and Life on the Rock, I love the pictures of the saints shown towards the end of the video. I also feel like crying when I see that video.
Thanks for the pictures posted here; they’re wonderful and lifted up my spirits. 🙂

Is it just me or does every photograph of a modern Saint seem alive? They have this “mona lisa smile” and loving eyes that seem to talk to you. I’ve noticed this for quite a while now and was wondering does anyone else feel and see this? Tim
A lot of this is due to the fact that in modern times, cameras are now able to take snapshots, allowing for wide smiles and poses. This was not possible with the old cameras, which required several minutes of exposure, and especially paintings, which needed poses of several days at least. A smile was not feasible in these cases.
